I don't critique because I am not good enough, but, I love these and I am wondering how you removed the leaves and ended up showing that entire outbuilding that was covered by it.

Hey Janice, thanks and I didn't remove the leaves. It is two different pictures. The leaves just wasn't in the second pic.

Hello and thank you to all who would offer an answer.
My question is should carry my Sony HX5 with me so I can take pictures when the mood hits? If the answer is yes, then i also feel I should have a monopod and tripod with me for those times when hand held is not an option.
This is not my backup camera, but takes very good pictures and I have some control of aperture and shutter speed and full control of ISO. It small enough to fit in my pocket or brief case.
I just not convinced enough that I should have a camera with me all the time.

My husband told me once , "Just like a gun slingger, I should never leave home without my camera" after thinking for a second, I realized they are '"NEVER'" without their gun!!!

This was my subject "The Chair".
Any critiques or suggestions on this picture?

Hey blueeyes3515, the picture did not post on page. But had a download command, I clicked on it and it did show up. To me the photo is great, good contrast, good focus, there is however, on bottom left a little blurr. I like the centering of the picture, but hearing alot about rule of thirds on here. How do you frame up your pics? I like that, think you gives them a big boost.

I like the ring shot, I think the angle of the mans ring but my mind says why is it separate from the womens rings they are uniting. Maybe keep the angle but have them touch. Still a different point of view and looks like it suits the area they got married in. Flowers with the background nice, the kiss creative angle I want to do that at a Sweet 16 with the group of girlfriends. I agree as not such a young women the armpit might bother me but it doesn't overwhelm the shot. Good work

Good thought on the ring, never thought about the separation thing. Thanks for your comments. The kiss shot would be cool with the girlfriends too!

In "P" mode, point the camera at the sky, and take a shot, go back look at your camera settings, shutter speed, f/stop and ISO, dial those in your "M" mode. Don't forget to change it back when you are done... Good luck...

Thanks! If it turns out I will post.

Good lighting & good idea, but I can see it is a very tough shot to get a right composition. However, you can always use editing software (example: Photoshop) to enhance the beauty and eliminate some imperfections of these photos. If you don't mind, please allow me demonstrate the possibility how your pictures may look after some minor tweaks. Hope this is helpful. Thank you for posting.

Very helpful, thank you it looks much better.

Nice job tlhodge1. As they say out east....GAWJUS! Love the composition of the rings. The floral bouquet is very colorful! I love the re-composition of the kiss photo josoIII did. The photo had great potential. Keep sharing!

Thanks Footshift, I also like josoIII fix. And will work on fixing some of the other issues in the future.

Photographs that feature armpits or nostrils are rarely flattering. I applaud thinking out of the box, but just because it's unique doesn't necessarily make it good. Perhaps a shot from a higher point of view, like a few steps up a ladder looking DOWN on the couple, might have more impact, and not be so "up close and personal".

I agree and will take all the advice and comments and make changes for future shots. Thanks for your comments

You asked what I thought. When people see the image, they'll ask, "who is this?" where is her face?

Yes I did ask and accept your comments. And its all good, but what happened to the armpit issue? Now it's the face or the lack of. The people looking at this album with probably know who she is!

love the rings, like the flower shot...but the kiss is just too contrived...good try...but I'd like to see something a bit more natural, or softer for a wedding. Smart to be trying something out of the box.

My daughter suggested that I do this shot. It is different, but thought I would try and see what I ended up with. Other than the "armpit" I think I kinda like it. Doing another wedding this evening it is also outside, so may try same shot again and work on the problem areas. Thanks for you comments.

There is no such thing as a right or wrong photograph, but there are techniques to making them more appealing to the viewer and your subjects photograph.
oh yes there is an armpit in the image, but if you did not see the potential in the photo, you should stop looking for just the bad points in photographs, it's not helping you to get better, everyone seems to have a real good eye for pointing out the defects.

Doing an outside wedding this evening and thought I would try to do a few silhouetts of the couple. Will have sky and mountains in the background. Shooting with canon 7d.

I too saw the armpit thing going on. Love the creativity about the photo though.
Ransom63 could have been a little more suttle with his comment!!!

Hey girl whats up, glad to see someone I know. I just got on here a couple days ago, think I'm gonna like it.
Yeah he could have been a little nicer, but I guess when we put our pics out here we have to be tough!
