The attached image of a Sycamore tree at a gap in the Roman Wall, Hadrian's Roman wall, Northumberland UK, known around the World as Sycamore Gap. It stared in the Kevin Costner film "Robin Hood".
Last night a person or persons unknown cut down the tree. The police are treating this as vandalism and news of the destruction of this tree is just starting to spread.I heard it on national radio lunchtime news.
I remember photographing the tree in August 2019, a hot summers day, with many people walking the "wall". You park in a local car park and hike about 1.5 miles to be in front of the tree, set up your tripod and camera zoom lens and wait for a clearing of the people. Think I was present for about 2 hours and took 10 images (?).
Please enjoy this image as it is no more.
