I have uploaded "CalliopeMale#1.gif" made from 40 individual frames. Images were made using Canon 7D Mark II and Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 Mark II at 240mm (FF equivalent 384mm). Shot on tripod with flash as only light sources in continuous AF mode at 1/250 sec and f/18. Individual frames have been down-scaled to 1000x667 @ 100 ppi to be web-friendly. Just drag the GIF file into your browser and watch the Male Calliope fly forever.

Thanks for your prompt and thorough replies. Once I selected and THEN clicked on "Create Frame animation" in Step 3, I was able to access the menu to "Make Frames from Layers". I now have a decent mock-up GIF of a 40-frame sequence of a hummingbird taken in burst mode over about 5 sec. GIF puts bird in flight. Fun experiment after not making a GIF for a very long time.

Thanks again!

Trying to create animated GIF using series of small JPG photo images (1 MB each). Get stalled on Step 3 of the Adobe tutorial listed below:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/how-to/make-animated-gif.html

Steps 1 and 2 load images and creates layer for each photo image. Step 3 instructs to convert layers (one for each JPG photo image) into animation frames --> Make Frames From Layers. Can't access the required menu as described by Step 3 in the tutorial. Instead get different menu unrelated to making photo frames. This menu may be related to video frames, which I do not want/need.

What might be wrong? Seek experienced advice on how to create animated GIF from JPG photo images, using Photoshop CC 2017.

Thanks!

Long ago a teacher of a photo class spent quite a bit of time stressing the importance of physical conditioning and stamina needed for effective photography, especially when faced with very long days. After a while the equipment gets too heavy and can limit our performance.

I found this 2-yr old article from Pop Photo that stresses many of the suggestions offered here by others, including the importance of conditioning. Hope this provides some insight on how we can better prepare for long days with our camera equipment.
