Hi all,
Just wanted to share my first attempt at landscape/nature photography since I joined this site. These were taken at Mans Creek Reservoir north of Weiser Idaho. I did post process them in PSE.
I've read and read hundreds of posts here, asked some questions, practiced outside in my yard and around town, and this is where I'm at now because of it. Thank you UHH! But I'm still open for constructive advice for improvement.

Remembering to adjust the white balance and ISO..lots of details to remember...keep practicing..if you have not used the white balance it can be very helpful in certain lighting situations..should be in your menu if you set your camera to A or S

My neighbor had seen mouse today and asked if I had ever had them around my house. If you feed birds you're bound to get a few at some time. I showed him how I recorded a mouse event a few years ago.
I keep my sunflower seed in a tin garbage pail. One night I had forgotten to replace the lid. A mouse had crawled in but couldn't get out. When I discovered her I grabbed my camera and took some shots. Look what I discovered.
I called my wife to have a look. She said, leave it with me. I'll handle this. She fetched a small cardboard box, lined it with something and then scooped the babies into her hands and placed them in there. Then she returned for the mother and did the same with her. She placed the box on a shelf in the shed and closed the door.
We returned an hour later and all five occupants were gone and the world had four new mice.

Looks like a female Goldfinch to me..either American or Lesser...I cannot tell the difference in the females as I get both Lesser and Americans...the males are easy to tell apart.

I spent a fabulous morning with my nesting pair of Tree Swallows. They will now sit closer and closer. I used my 400MM, 'L' lens for this shoot and both the female and male, often sat so close I couldn't get them in focus.
We should all have those problems. Here are five images from that photo op.
Hope you like them.

Lovely..I love the one with nesting material in his mouth

These are from the bayou this morning, as with the one the other day they are not very sharp. This area is very dark and it is so hard to get a good shot. It's like being on the dark side of the moon. It is something to see though even if the shots are not that good. This is rare for me to see the babies, I hope it is rare to you also, so I thought I would share. Sorry for the fuzzy shots. When the parent comes to the nest they move away from the babies, who have been very quiet up til now, they pop their heads out of the nest when they know they are going to get fed. When the parent feels it is safe they move down and start the feeding, which doesn't last long before the parent leaves to find more food. It gets very quiet again as the babies keep looking out for the parent to return.

A family left a foundation to care for a wonderful place called gardens of the world

Since we did not get there until 11 am and the sun was high I concentrated on the shadier areas and macro shots where the harsh light and shadows would not be a problem..
