Hi Far North,
Can't go wrong with Canon. I've had five or six of them in the last few years. Still have three on deck that always do well.
I'd look at Consumer Reports to check if they have done tests on printers lately. Always good advice there.
Happy printing,

This unit was at Great Falls,MT former Great Northern shops area. It was parked just to the south of the (now torn down) roundhouse.

Is there a comparable Canon to the Nikon P510? I've been using a Canon PowerShot A1000IS for several years and have been really pleased with it.

It's about time to look for an update, though. There are so many models from which to choose...

Check out the Consumer Reports printer ratings. Just looked at the article a week ago. Lots of good unbiased tech information. Three or so years ago I took their advice on a Canon Pixma 970. Best money I have spent for some time.
I just trust the work they do.

Hi,
Thanks for your generousity and for excusing my moment of thoughtlessness. I am perfectly happy to have your approval of a copy. My daughter will be overjoyed at the photographic vision of her location. Really appreciate your work. Thanks again,

Hi,
Afterthought; My daughter lives in one of the apartment buildings along Rockefeller Parkway. I immediately thought, "Oh, I've got to send that photo to her." I pinched it and reproduced it, not thinking that you may have a price on it. Please excuse me for being so unconscious. If I owe you and can afford the price, I will be pleased to "Pay Up." Bill2

Hi,
Many thanks for the unexpected and canny responses. There are several suggested items upon which I will follow up.
It appears that you have sharpened my work habits, saved me money, and made me very pleased with UH.

I certainly do appreciate the time that all of you took to make considered replies. Best Regards, Bill Forsyth

Hi,
I'm tempted to stock up on a special sale of photo paper for my printer (Canon inkjet). I do mostly family photos and in multiples of ten or so. Some days I run through a lot of paper. I can do best when the sale "Buy one, get one free," comes along. I usually get the 150 sheet matte and another for the cost of one package. Makes quite a difference.

There are several multi-sheet 8x10 projects in the near future.
If I buy a quantity, what are the best storage conditions, and how important to quality are the expiration dates. I probably won't exceed the dates but I'd like to know how long paper would still be of a like-new condition.

Thanks for the question and copyright suggestion.I had planned to dress up the photos from his original negs and make the best matte prints I could. These would go to the museum. Copyright, considering that I think the folks at the museum are honorable and carefull about their preservation methods, may be overkill in this case, but certainly one good way to preserve his work.It had not occurred to me.

Watermarking seemed to be something that most anyone could patch over and negate.

My father took many photos of the local area where he lived, during the mid-thirties. I want to reprocess them and donate them to the local history museum.

I do, however, want to do something to them, watermark or whatever, that will establish the photos as his.

I've never worried about a photo having the proper credit, so at this point, I have no good ideas.
