Yes I know it is insane but, I need to do a project and need to be able to read a lot of old tapes and convert them. I was also hoping I could hook up the camcorder and have what I am recording also play on my tv in a different room. Thanks for your input.

My friend needs to scrub some tapes and then to record some new videos. He is interested in the Canon VIXIA HV40 High Definition Camcorder and I suggested he check B&H since it gets such good reviews from the Hedgehogs. I know video is not photography but they do go hand in hand sometimes and there are so many expert Hedgehogs I told him I would ask you all.

I know it's pretty silly to be buying an HDV camcorder in 2013, but I have specific reasons I want something that records / captures HDV, and this looks to be one of the last ones still being sold new. Do you think a 8+ rating for the used recorder get me a reliable camera? Thank you.

Hi Tim, I started photography as a way to be creative and have fun but that can be pretty lonesome. I joined a class called "Photo Masters" and that changed everything. Each week we study a different famous photographer and their techniques and then try to come up with something similar to share with the class(up to 9 photos per person). We have studied Jay Maisel, Eve Arnold, Martin Parr, Steve McCurry and many more. It is your choice to use a point and shoot or all the gear you have. The class gives you inspiration and you usually do not have to go far. The main thing is it is fun and has no pressure. Good luck and hope you find inspiration!
