These little gals lay eggs on your tender veggies which turn into Cabbage Loppers that will destroy your garden.

We have a family of otters that have been enjoying the lake this summer. They've been fishing around our dock and just having a great time. We have had a great time watching them swim and play. I'll also add a couple photos of them playing in the slough down the road.
These were taken with a 400mm lens so I wasn't intruding on their space.

This little guy has been hanging around our place hunting the thousands of ducks that winter here. I just noticed recently that he only has one leg but he's healthy and seems to get around just fine.

How exciting! I'm eagerly waiting their return here on the lake. They seem to make it here mid January. Hoping you get many more shots.

Well, I had a couple of what I considered to be my best photos this past year, Snowy Owls, Eagles etc.... but the one that I will post as the best is simply because of it's rarity here in Montana. My 12 year old son and I sat on our boat on Flathead Lake for 3 nights until 3 a.m. waiting for these and they didn't disappoint.

My camera is set in 'program mode'. ISO is between 100-3200; I manually set it on 640 ISO that day; continuous shooting; aperture and shutter speed are automatic; internal sharpening set @ #6; spot metering, etc. So, the speed and aperture are automatic but everything else is controlled within the Program mode. The hardest part is getting the spot metering to do a good job at that distance.
I check the aperture and shutter speed before I take the photo.

Thanks for the info. I've never tried Internal Sharpening and will be trying that ASAP!

Taken this past summer when it was warm, very warm. It seemed every Baldy I found was panting in a tree and fanning themselves to cool off.

Ok Regis, my question is did you choose these settings "on the fly" or is this one of your pre-sets? It's a perfect exposure for such a quick shot.
