It took wrapping the device with protective material and a BIG set of pliers.....MORE than Gentle force but a successful result! I now have a separate camera and flash. and no damage! WOW. :D

Not yet. The pliers come next. Then, maybe it's time for a new flash.......

Jerry, You sure started somethingreally confusing!!!
Thanks to those who tried seriously to help. I hope it works.
And FYI, Looking from the camera back, as one would naturally, I think for this function turning to the right should be correct. And a white printed arrow in the appropriate directon would help. CANON ARE YOU LISTENING????

My Canon loaned to my daughter with 580 EX flash attached. When returned I could not remove the flash. The adjustment knob will not turn either way so I cannot loosen for removal of the flash. Much "finger" pressure applied but will not budge. Suggestions please.

As far as "dark" prints are concerned, you are likely comparing print to monitor. OK,....BUT... consider the difference in viewing methods: monitor is a bright TRANSMITTED image while the print is viewed by light REFLECTED from inked surface. Big difference!!! In your case, a simple solution might be to reduce the monitor brightness level. Then the prints are more likely to match luminous level that you select on the monitor. Just ONE suggestion (if color change is not part of the original problem).

It depends mostly on why you want to zip the file. For storage space saving the zip size saves space over the original. For transmission purposes there are choices and considerations....for email to be read on computer (generally 72 dpi), reduce the original size first and save for the purpose at low resolution.....for emailing for printing, a 3 (or so) meg file should suffice without need for zip.
Winzip should serve. One alternative is the free download "7Zip."

After checking, I was trying to print with preferences set to grayscale......Unchecked that box and the printer figured out what was needed for the B & W prints. Mine still have a discernable green cast, BUT MUCH better! You might check your settings.

I'm thinking my original question is no longer valid and I'm looking for a tutorial that better explains the technical end of attaching speedlights to tripods/stands, with various attachments ie: snoot, dish, umbrella etc. I want to make sure when I get the flash that I have the proper bracket(s) to add accessories?? Perhaps a shopping list when I get speedlights I will also need.... Thanks again.

Check out Youtube for Gary Fong tutorials. A world of simplistic means of lighting for many purposes. Lots of other tutorials on lighting on Youtube.

What would one need to achieve this?

On that kind of budget and the picture style you posted, I suggest a set of speedlights (maybe Yongnuo) and a snoot with grid (maybe Gary Fong) with radio triggers. A complete set for your desired type of lighting is achievable for that price. The rest is in your studied approach to lighting setup.

Check out the yongnuo brand flash triggers. They offer a wide variety and can suit most any use at very reasonable prices.

When I convert a color image to B&W and attempt to print it on a Canon pixma multifunction (mg5320) printer, whether from LR, PS or the canon printing program, they all come out with a green muddy color. Any suggestions to avoid this?

Had the same problem driving me nuts. Solved it, I think, in printer preferences....Will need to do some checking....I'll get back to you.

-Latest Report: Absolutely NO response with Wansen triggers.
I bought a pair of Yongnuo Rf 603 CII triggers that performed as advertised....right out of the box (after batteries added). They solved the problem with the canon 580 EX (reported radio interference) and the Sigma DG 500 Super. Both work great. SO it was the trigger that was the problem.

And that is all you will get from it.
It is also the only thing that will work on your 580ex.

What is the reason you need the RC flash ??
I get very good results with my 580ex and 430exII as slaves with an IR remote master.

I want to be able to use backlights or background lights that are hidden from IR direct view on occasions, like interior shots. The IR system does work well for a lot of purposes, but a matter of capability and choice, I suppose.

Wow Blackest! You have done an awful lot of research and shared it here for all of us. Got a little technical at one point, but went to great lengths to try to help solve MY problem. I still have not been successful with my current collection of "stuff" (Canon 580EX and Sigma 500 EF Super, Wansen receivers and transmitter). A lot of interesting reading in your links & maybe the AC5 shield would solve the 580 interference problem. On the other hand, the V6 transceivers could work. The cost is an important factor. It may prove less expensive in the long run to buy a completely new set with the Yongnuo flashes & triggers. Being stubborn, I am gamboling with the purchase of a pair of Yongnuo RF 603C II. If they don't work, I'll return them and go ahead with the total Yn setup. Again, THANKS for all the help and time consuming research.
