The insurance agent I worked with was all too familiar with my camera type....she even knew that the 7D isn't made anymore and that I should replace it with the 7D MarkII ! She said the TSA theft in our country is off the charts!

Oh no, that's against the law! I believe TSA agents are above the law.

They need to do more of that, but the TSA workers all have their hands in the pot.

Exactly! They don't seem to be concerned about that anymore.😳

Thank you to each of you for your worthwhile thoughts on this issue. I have travelled half way around the world several times and have never had a thing stolen . Live and learn. I'll know better next time.
Thank you all again!

On the day of our departure en route to France last month, my camera, Canon 7D Mark II was stolen by either baggage handlers and/or TSA workers. My camera is always with me, never checked in baggage. While departing on our ORD-JFK leg of our trip continuing on to Nice, all passengers were told at the boarding gate to check their carry-on luggage at the end of the jetway as there wasn't room on the regional jet. Ugh! My camera roll aboard carry on, double locked with TSA approved locks went in the baggage hold, not to be seen again until arrival in Nice. After gathering our luggage at baggage claim in Nice, going on to our hotel, you can only imagine how shocked I was to UNLOCK my bag to find my camera stollen. The clever thieves had put the locks back on...after taking my camera ( and make op bag....really?).
I alerted my insurance company. Three weeks later upon our return home, I filed the papers and less my $1,000.00 deductible ( ouch!) a couple of weeks later had my camera etc replaced. ( Thank you West Bend Mutual!)
Lesson learned? WEAR MY CAMERA ON ALL FLIGHTS!
I've never had anything stolen before. It really is a horrible feeling, especially when you know your belongings were stolen by "trusted😱 government/airline employees."
I chose not to let the theft ruin our trip in France, as there are way more serious problems one could have. My husband and I were blessed to have an amazing trip, our health is great and how blessed we are to even be able to travel.
Just want everyone to learn from what happened to me.πŸ™ƒ

Yes, indeed the downfall of LED screens. I have a superzoom, Sony HX50 with no eye-view and it was useless in the real world sun. On EBay for $13 is "ENHANCE LCD Hood/ Sun Shade ." Size is measure diagonally, like TVs. You need to remove the screen protective plastic. I modified mine to include a small hinged magnifying lens that allows me to hold the camera close to my eye, also braces the camera/hand combo against my head.

See my final solution on page 3

Has anyone had experience, good or bad, with using an anti-glare protective film on their camera’s touch screen? My Canon video camera touch screen is totally wiped out in bright light primarily due to the glare. I see oodles of products out there – but nothing custom fit to my camera. Are there cut-to-fit kits out there or can one just buy an oversized item and cut it down to fit? Do the films interfere with touchscreen control? Other fixes or recommendations or experiences?

This is a painting I did from a photograph I shot. The car is believed to have once been used as a police or fire chief's vehicle. It is a 1939 Dodge D-11. I need a name for the painting for an exhibit. Thank you for your help!

For those of you who didn't see the winning name, it is "Rust in Peace". Thank you to all of you who submitted very clever names, along with email and Facebook friends!

Can you make out the name of the artist. I tried to enlarge the picture but cannot get it. May be able to find the name of the picture if I know what artist painted it.

Ron

I painted it from a photo I took.
Thank you for looking!

I simply like, "Old Law"

10-62 was my first thought. It's radio code number for out of service do to mechanical problem.
However it's a law enforcement think and many people wouldn't relate to it.

Interesting...I sure learned a lot from you very smart Photog Friends! :-)
Thank you!

Hello everyone!
Please forgive me for not getting back to all of you individually.
Through Facebook, emails and this forum, the painting has been named : "Rust in Peace"
( the name has a dual meaning, as the vehicle was believed to have been used by a Fire Dept Chief or the Chief of Police......an officer of the peace!
Thank you to each of you for posting wonderful names!
