I have a question for those out there who have the Canon 7D Mark II and the Sigma 150-600 mm sport. Do any of you who have this set up experience a little slop between the lens and the camera. I notice when I pick up the camera and lens together there seems to be some movement of the connection. I may even have noticed that some focusing may be lighter or darker than others while not even changing a setting. This is not noticeable very often but I suspect the terminals not properly connecting between the lens and camera. Slop is noticeable say when I pick up the camera by the camera body or even gripping the camera foot when I have it adjusted so it's on top of the lens when shooting. When I grip both the camera and lens and twist I can feel a movement although small it concerns me. My other telephoto a Canon 100-400mm L II does not show this movement.

I have this setup and no problem with it.

Enjoy your new gear, and thanks for letting us know what you ended up doing.

Thanks Mark, I am, first long lense that I have had. If it hadn't been for the help you all gave me I still wouldn't have made a decision on what to buy.

Thanks Sonic, have managed to do a bit of travelling, went to Jersey for 2 weeks and have been to London and Chelmsford. Rainham Marches was good and so was Flatley Mill, Constable Country. This week will be going to Portland for a few days so lens is getting tested well.

Thank you to everyone who gave me advice a few months ago on what camera and lense I should buy. 6 weeks ago I bought myself a Canon 7D mk11 and a Sigma 150mm-600mm Sport lense. I am now travelling in the UK with it and have had some very good results. I will post some photos as soon as I can access a pc. I am very happy with this camera lense combination. Once again thank you to everyone who helped me make this decision.

UHH member MT Shooter is a well-respected wildlife photographer. Here is his assessment:
Quick comparison Tamron vs. Sigma "C" 150-600mm lenses

Thanks for the link Nikonian72, it was very helpful. Was going to go with the Sigma Sport after reading what MT Shooter said butImagemeister said I might want to consider the Canon 400mm f5.6, thinkin I could put a 1.4 converter on it but then if any of the Birds were too close I would have a problem. Maybe MT Shooter will see this and point me in the right direction.

From what I have seen and heard, for all practical purposes they are equal except for the USB dock adjustments that the Sigma has.

If I were you, I would seriously look at the Canon 400mm f5.6 and use good pixel enlargement techniques/software to get to 600mm with good support techniques.

Thanks imagemeister, just when I thought I had made a decision to go with the Sigma Sport. Now you have me thinking about the Canon 400mm f5.6 with a 1.4 converter.

I believe the Sigma Sport version is best of the 150-600mm lenses, particularly at 600mm.

Thanks Joer, I think I'll go to a camera shop and try the Sigma.

Hi, I have done a search but couldn't quite find the information I need. I would like to buy one of these lense to use on the Canon 7D, (not mk11). It is for photographing Birds, small and large as well as in flight. Trying to find out which one focuse the best and has the sharper images, especially at 600mm. Thanks for your help.

I have a Sony HX50v same limitation as the Canon SX models. To achieve a Bokeh like suppressed background, I use fast shutter, low ISO and flash. Since the flash is not adjustable, I use tissue or distance to adjust the intensity.

These conditions suppress the effect of the ambient sun light since the shutter is fast and the sensor does not see sun light very long and the low ISO means that the sensor is not sensitive. Using f-8 further dims any thing not close to the subject. Summary: subject is bright, background is dark.

With a little Post the background disappears. The suppression involves boosting black, lowering green luminosity and saturation. Not true Bokeh, but as you can see background but it is very visually suppressed. This is what my Manual setting goes to when the camera is set on M. This is my favorite for photographing flowers.

Hi Ann, I have a SX60 and have done some close ups in lower light. It will do ok if you tripod it and either use a remote release, the timer or use a Android phone as a remote release. Of course you don't have to worry about your mushrooms moving and blurring the image.

Thank you, we do have a cable release and also an Android phone so wouldn't have to buy anything extra.
