Well Sugar'sDaddy this afternoon my hummer passed right by me looked at my carpenter bee box jar, flew to my front door and looked inside (I guess to see if lunch was ready)then zipped away to my flower bed out by the road. I had to go mow so didn't see him the rest of the day. I read that the carpenter bees will keep them away from the feeders. I moved mine under the tree. Go to my topic and check out my shot of the mating ritual of the bluejays in my yard.

I was waiting to take a picture of my hummer. I had all my setting right with high shutter speed for the action. I noticed movement to my side and looked to see this amazing action. Sure wish my setting had been different. Not a good picture but I wanted to share.

I had everything going wrong for me in this shot. The bright sunlight was right behind the LOVE birds.

I couldn't believe I got this look using Picasa only. I never have used photoshop and I'm sure by now that's and old way of doing things with your photos.

3 baby bluebirds left the nest Friday. Another 5 will leave another box in about 2 weeks. Seeing more blue jays this year.

Trying something new adding borders.

Sugar Daddy, I'm so sorry I posted the 2 songbird on your topic. I guess since I had started the other topic I made the mistake of putting them in the wrong place.

Did you get that flower yet? I'll be looking for a hummer feeding from a flower next week. Hope you don't think I'm trying to push you to do it. I got started about 3 years ago when I noticed a hummer sitting on a bear limb next to my trumpet vine. He would let me get kinda close so It tried a few shots. That's what I love about digital you can get rid of a bad photo with a push of a button. If you don't see me posting on UHH it's because my computer logs me out of my e-mails for hours sometime. I'm back after 2-1/2 this time. Yea.

I've been unable to get back to this site for hours. If I don't respond I hope you understand.

I think this is a yellow rump wabler. It lives back in the woods and doesn't come to my feeders.

Please post photo of the birds in your yard or on your property. Post helpful hints for others to consider at their own home. Please try to keep the text short. I had my small farm certified as a Certified Wildlife Habitat in 2001 by the National Wildlife Federation. It has been great planting and providing what the birds need to survive and raise their young.

I forgot to say if you love hummers and your on facebook go to The Hummingbird Whisper and see all the hummers posted there. You'll be glad you did. I'm going to start a topic for birds in your own backyard and hints for taking their pictures and some other things I do just as a person that loves birds and in no way a professional. Have a wonderful summer.

Sugar'sDaddy. How in the world did you get that redbird to stay still long enough to get that hat on his head? Ha. I love it. I need a blue one for my bluebirds. If you can do that and get the wonderful hummer photos like you posted get yourself in that car and go to a garden center. Buy a plant that the hummers love and put it out were you watch them at the feeder. Get ready because they ARE going to go to that flower and there's your shot. Takes time or it does for me but get you a snack and something cold to drink and have a wonderful time. I know you will love it.
