Excellent series. Vibrant colors! Did you use electronic or mechanical shutter on your R6mk2? If you did use electronic, was rolling shutter an issue?

Rick

Thank you! For football I use the electronic shutter and have had no issues with rolling shutter… tennis and baseball on the other hand I have had to switch to mechanical

Funny how after all my years of shooting sports it takes a game or two for everything to fall into place. Great shots I like the 1st one the best on the download you can read the tattoo on the ball carriers arm.

keep up the great work.

Thank you all! Nikon2014: I was actually quite surprised to see the tatoos. I was under the impression that in Minnesota you had to be 18 to get inked. Evidently not anymore. One of the linemen had a huge tatoo on his arm that appears to be a native headdress I only was able to catch it from one side and usually it was somewhat obstructed by another player.

Wow! That looks like it would be fun to shoot. Always liked shots with water when its churning and splashing.

Well the wait is over. I finally shot some football on Thursday night. I may have irritated some Futebol fans as I decided to go on the road for the first gridiron battle instead of shooting the home soccer game but " a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do." The sun was bright and hot, and the Canadian wildfire smoke was clinging in the air making for itchy eyes and a scratchy throat. In retrospect I probably should have lost that 30 pounds I promised myself to lose over the summer. I felt like I was shooting my first game and struggled a bit trying to get back in the swing. Like the coach said in his post game interview, "The good thing is it is all things we can correct." As a bonus I even got a portrait from another sideline photographer, who in my opinion is one of the best in the area.

Glad to hear it was only a neck strain, hopefully it will heal quickly and he will be back in the game. Always sad to see a senior miss all or part of final season, especially football as it has so few games to begin with.

Nice shots. I really like the panning shots, a technique that I can never seem to nail!

The first one I would have cropped tighter just showing the player catching the ball. The other three shots are brilliant. My favorite is the catcher and the ball which you caught so good.
I can count the stitches. Great stuff ivy.

Thanks Jules! I agree 100 percent, not sure what was going through my mind when I was cropping on the first other than I want to go to bed!!

A small attempt at humor … the final score was 14-12.

Made it out to a rare Legion home game tonight. They only had four on the schedule. The home team scored two touchdowns and the difference in the game was the missed extra points by the visitors
