Annie,

I use a Canon 100-400 mm zoom or I get my Digiscope out and use it. So that covers equipment. Other posts have mentioned some real great ideas for finding areas and ways for them to land. I get a fairly long twig and tape it to the feeder pole. I make it look as natural as I can. That seems to work well for photographing all my birds. In fact, my avatar was shot using that technique. Hope this helps. Good luck!

No problem. By the way, I do not know where you live but here in the Northland at Backyard Birds, they are holding a 20% off everything in the store this Saturday. This will include bird seed. They are located off Barry Road near St Luke's Hospital.

We see them every year and some years we have more and some years less. If you place a water source on your deck or in your yard for most winters you will get them. This year was the exception since it was so warm. Once we get them here in the winter they usually stay for the Spring. I have lots of pictures of them.

We get a lot of Orioles here in Weatherby Lake. We actually started seeing Orchard Orioles the last two years but the Baltimores are here every year. They are my favorites of the ones we have at the feeders and the ones that I photograph.

I took these pictures at Whiteman Airforce Base. I used a Canon 30D, Canon 100-400mm 4.5-5.6, L series, IS, USM lens. It was an air show at an event named "Wings Over Whiteman".

I think I used my Nikon Digiscope for the Goldfinch picture and I used my Canon 7D for the other two with my Canon 100-400mm USM, IS lens for the other two.

The fishing is good but only residents are allowed to fish here, and, yes, they do watch it very closely and fines are heavy. It is a beautiful lake community that has been here a long time. I think the 75th anniversary of the lake is this year.

These are two shots I captured on Weatherby Lake, a town just north of Kansas City, MO. I love the sky color for these pictures as I think it really brings out the fall colors in the trees. Any feedback is appreciated.
