I too have that camera and also often feel over awed and under qualified. I also use Elements and once more I'm not so sure if I should even be allowed to use it. Although I understand the knowledge that can be gained from a owners manual and I do know where mine is, I have found books such as a book by Jeff Revell titled "Canon EOS Rebel T2I/550D -From Snapshots to Great Shots" and "Photoshop Elements - the Missing Manual" published by OReilley to be much more user friendly. Adobe also has their own videos that I find useful. Will be watching to see what you do - always fun to see not only the different techniques but the personal perspectives we all bring to the table.

I totally agree with the perspective thing, everyone sees everything in a different light and it's always interesting to see someones photos and know without a doubt that I see not only what they see but also something completely different than whats there. Imagination is a beautiful gift , that's my favorite part about editing I can take 1 photo and do 5 different edits on it and I have 5 different photos. The whole Photoshop part of it is still a little confusing for me lol mainly because I need to learn it and all I've done is use it to see what it will do, I've taken a few tutorials to learn a few things but I feel like my brain isn't large enough to hold all the information on it's powers lol:) The camera itself still blows my mind every single time I turn it on, it literally goes everywhere with me and I'm all the time pulling it out to shoot on the side of the road. Whenever anyone sees the photos that it's capable of they set up a date & time for me to come do family pics, I've done senior portraits, prom photos, birthday and sister photos and I have to say I truly never get tired of it. My time to do my stuff though is usually after midnight and i set up on a tripod connect to my computer and use Eos Utility to do some remote shooting of the moon and all that wrapped up makes me eternally happy ;) It's nice to know someone else has this camera and feels like I do ..It's the 2nd love of my Life hahahaha

After 6 months of taking pictures and downloading them to my computer I noticed I have a Love for the Moon in all her phases. I will take a photo of just about anything but I wait all day to see if the sky will be clear enough for me to get just one shot of the moon. Here are just a few photos of some of my very favorite things to see through my lens. I hope you all enjoy!

All photos taken with Canon Eos Rebel T2i with 55-250mm lens on AV setting.

April 3, 2012/ F10 / ISO-800/ focal length 250mm (Windows edits for cropping and contrast)

April 5, 2012/ F5/ ISO-3200/ focal length 109 mm (No edits)

March 21, 2012/ F5.6/ ISO-400/ focal length 250mm (No edits)

Playing in the woods near my house april 5, 2012 F6.3/ ISO-640/ focal length 250mm

Right off my front porch found this little beauty..F6.3/ ISO-1000/ focal length 250mm

This photo is cropped with some warmth added for color, the original was of the creek bank approx. 3 feet across. I never seen the snake until the next day while looking through the photos to download...gave a new meaning to "If it was a snake it'da bitcha!" F5.6/ ISO-400/ focal length 84mm

Well here I am, 6 months into having my first real camera (Canon Eos Rebel T2i) and I still enjoy picking up the instruction/owners manual. Though I have learned so much, I still feel like I'm in the dark and each time I think I have something figured out...turns out some small detail is different than before. I got so much advice on here from so many great people and I have to say I followed most of it lol..I read front to back my cameras instruction manual ( and still pick it up often, it lives in my camera bag) along with any material I can get my hands on or read online. I started out using the auto setting and have just recently branched out to setting my own aperture, ISO & shutter speed and WOW..I lose the words to properly explain just how ...well, I'm still very much in awe of my camera and just how complex it is. Also I took advice from a very nice gentleman here and bought Topaz Adjust along with Photoshop Elements 10 Plus and I have never had so much fun or been so satisfied with my photos, So, Thank You to everyone here who gave me advice and critique and very helpful hints. They have been put to good use, my camera stays by my side and even takes the grocery store ride with me lol however with a recent diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome I cant spend the amount of time I want to getting lost in the view finder...but that's not to say I dont't try :) I think with this camera I will always be finding something new about it and that makes me very happy indeed!!!:) I will post some pics in the photo section so please feel free to critique and/or comment and let me know what you think!:) Thank you for any feedback

That sunset shot is wonderful!Beautiful colors and the suns rays turned out super. Good focus and composition! I can't even tell what the first shot is...kind of dark I think but I just calibrated my monitor and stuff looks a lot darker so it may be my monitor. Is that the Loc Ness Monster? The second shot you did a nice job of keeping the blue clothing. The face looks pretty dark. You probably set your aperture on the lighter portion of the background? That would result in the darker portions of the photo being too dark. Again, it could be my monitor. I would appreciate if other commentors tell me if I am way off on the darkness. This monitor change is making me crazy and I'm wondering if it really is as bad as I think or if I a bit nuts. :)

mommy115-THANK YOU BUNCHES for the compliments :) when i took these photos i was really just getting into how my photos were actually looking instead of worrying jonly about the main focus/object i wanted to capture. the first picture you see is a pelican that i just so happened to catch as i was shooting the waves so it was very accidental haha but i thought it was a fun shot to play with for editing (i think you notice i was into the darker more dramatic colors lol) however, I have since learned that less is more and most of the time better. The sunset shot was actually a sunrise in Arkansas and what surprised me was the day was so stormy and cloudy and i just couldn't seem to catch the sun until this one. I have found that I never tire of photographing the sky whether its day, night, rainy, cloudy, sunset or sunrise and pictures like this one always fill me with the knowledge that I am loved and the beauty of the sky is my smile from above that I'm right :))
I'm still your average novice but i pay more attention to detail now and composition, I still have ALOT to learn about my new camera and the many dollars in software I've purchased, all I can say at this point is I tweak it until it feels right to me. I adore the time I get to spend on this side of the lens and sometimes i drag my feet on the learning and tutorials but the VERY BEST advice I've gotten yet I got right here(not that u need it lol)-Read your owners manual, Take lots of pictures, change your settings and see what they do & HAVE FUN,,On the editing side of it, doing what feels right is what comes easiest. I work with Photoshop Elements 10 plus as my host program with Topaz Adjust as an add-on program and I am so pleased with my results I cant get enough.
I will stop in shortly and see your pics and ill let you know what i think..if nothing else helps try adjusting your screen brightness I know how aggravating that can be when it just doesnt look right. Again, Thank you so much for the compliments and criticisms I definately love an honest opinion

This has been more fun than i thought could be possible with a camera but i find myself just picking it up to carry with me on my morning drive getting the kids to school or just to the store lol
All of these photos were taken with Canon Eos Rebel T2i with EF-S 18-55mm lens, Ive only had it a week and these are my first photos. I am absolutely in love with the quality this camera has given me but please feel free to critique away so ill know what im doing wrong for future photos :)

I am asking anyone who wants to put in thier "2cents" worth of knowledge, tips, ideas or just plain opinion..i have purchased my first real camera and am awaiting its arrival, however, i now realize i am afraid of what i dont know...its a canon Ti2 18-55mm lens 18mp digital slr. I really am excited for it to get here but ive been playing with a fujifilm finepix, "playing" with this new one just wont cut it i dont think....if anyone out there comes across this and knows anything, anything at all, that might help me discover new possibilities or teach me a new trick or two, i would really appreciate the knowledge and be ever so grateful.

I kinda like thr original better. The lighting on the face was more subdued. However this is also very pretty. It really helps when your working with a naturally beautiful model.

I like the original more also. I tend to like richer warmer tones.

I have to agree the original is a better photo more natural and real, i think i have a tendancy to go bolder than needed and sometimes it bites me lol

I like sepia tone the best - which is rather strange because as a rule I'm not a big fan of such. Maybe the right amount of tone for my old eyes. Top one good colors, #2 - maybe a little washed out, bright. And #3 - what were you doing while hubby wsa toiling - out taking pictures at the football game? Good for you, someone has to do it. Thanks for sharing.

Thank Youfor the compliments! I agree with #2 bit the less i used the darker it got and i just couldnt find the right mix i guess, #3...i was taking the pics :) hes never been camera shy but i love getting photos of him working because he loves what he does and hes in the zone when he does it so i think he makes a great unaware subject :) again thank you it means alot to me :-D

I can never take enough pictures of the sky, clouds, and nature in general,, this is certainly my comfort zone but I find something very spiritual about a sunrise/set. How could i make them better? All taken with Fujifilm Finepix S2500HD (sadly needs replaced)on SP setting/beach

ISO100
Aperture is unknown-camera and I both are having issues learning how to use this function and I think it may be damaged from moisture ..is that possible?

Sunrise 9/14/11

On my way to Shreveport took a wrong exit and got really lost ..but it was so beautiful i almost wanted to stay..

Just a snapshot of the hubby hard at work but I love how it came out :)
