Received Aurora alert via Webpage .. gathered camera made all adjustments of lens, iso and f -stop ...Waited...waited.waited..gave up came in took bath and ...yeap you guessed it there they were when I looked out bedroom window ....gathered tripod took out screen of window and took two shots before they disappeared ...went to bed thinking well that did not work ...just finished uploading to picasa3 and yea !!!!!! one out of the two shots came out ...so here is the view from my bedroom window
yes there is a lot of noise but at least I tried and will be a little better next time.....
I had both Nikons set for the shoot .... but I only have one base plate for the tripod .... sometimes the display last for a long time other times they move so fast all you can do is try ....
we are suppose to have another hot aurora night tonight hope to capture a few more

I've recently been having problems posting pics with Picasa. I don't know if I'm doing something differently or if it's something in the new version, but I usually sharpen/crop, etc my favorite shots to post, but when I pick them, only the original shot posts, not the enhanced version. It's getting frustrating. Do I have to make a copy of each pic I want to work on??

I was having trouble as well...so I started clicking little green thumbtack and placing new photo in a file of it's own .....

Thank you ...I am doing that ...I have been also watching you-tubes......I know there is a wrong sitting somewhere and I will continue to play til I get it right the booklet that comes with the Nikon d5100 looks like memo graph print and is hard to read no matter what the light ...but the video and other helpful people is making it easier to understand ...thank you for replying

Ok here is the deal ...bought a new Nikon... so that I would have two camera bodies when I go out to shoot ....because I could and because I hate changing lens in extreme weather conditions ....I have a Nikon40D and now the D5100.....what I keep getting with the new camera is foggy or washed out photos ..they turn out ok after working with them but they come no where close to the colors of my old camera.....any help from any one understanding the new camera ....

Got a call from daughter asking if I would like to be the camera person for the local Home Depot 10th Birthday reopening.....YES I SAYS ..I knew there would be no pay but it would be something I could use in my Photo collection.....what a day go there early only to find out it was off they had bought their own camera the night before (one of those deals where one head is not talking to the other head) ....but I could shoot all the photos I wanted and if they decided to use any they would give me credit ......My daughter was so embarrassed but I agreed and stayed ...
I watched as they worked with the new camera for a little while and then off I went around the store ..taking photos of all their new displays and the children build a toy clinic ,,,,,then when my daughter called the square dance for the entertainment part of the day ...all in all 202 shots and only a few blurred shots... I agreed to use non face photos till they release them to me to use....here is one of my favorite shots of action (color version)+ B&W version
it was a great learning day ...and above all I HAD FUN!!!!!!

Neat story line, Rebecca! Makes the pics even more special - and the stress, kiss it away. A recent post by a newbie said that when they have their hands on the camera, it is the only time they feel at peace.

Continue sending pics; it is a great stress reliever. Have a beautiful day! (Just noticed - is that a bear in #7 picture?)

Mommy moose .....she was deep in the wood line and she looks to be heavy with baby ......
