Most of my photography income is from event photography, i do nightclubs, every Thursday - Friday. Every location is different, white ceilings, black ceilings, party goers are different too, some lover photos some don't. Some groups don't mind candids, some will get pissed if you take a foto before asking permission. Get photos of the venue, get a crowd shots form different corners of the venue, be friendly with the guests that way they feel comfy with you taking their photo. Take a few test shots until you're comfy how they look before taking any serious ones. I love longer lenses for single shots, so I can get in close without being close.

Built in battery charging! Would like to just plug a cable to the camera or sit it on some charging dock instead of have to remove the batteries all the time.

Moire is increased with sharpness, I'm not sure if higher megapixels increased it, I've noticed reducing my image resolution helped rid the effects.

Just the opposite. Higher resolution tends to tame/avoid moire.

Using an fx lens on a dx sensor does not allow you to see any closer than you would using it on a full frame body. It just lets you concentrate or a smaller part of the frame at the same focal length. I tested this out with my 28-300mm lens on the D7000 and the D800. At 300mm a window with was a few 100's of yards away looked the same size regardless of which body I used, but the D800 allowed me to capture more of the building than the D7000 did.

As resolution goes higher, moire is more apparent. The D7000/D7100 has a much better body design as well as the control panel screen helps you access functions more readily compared to the smaller dx bodies. I believe the D800 only has 2 shot built in hdr. I've used it in the past and remember only using 2 shots. The D600 is almost a replica of the D7100/d7000 with the larger full frame sensor, which means higher clarity/detail esp for large sized printing, and the larger easier on the eyes viewfinder that does not need squinting.

Yup, I think for the short range the 2.8 covers it should have a closer focus distance. It's almost useless inside my home shooting my kids, since they tend to always walk towards the camera.

Yup, while 36mp's can be overkill, it sure saves you from upgrading to expensive zoom lens. My cropped images print very detailed, so much so I've become a big fan of shooting with the intention of cropping.

70-200 F4 is more useful than 2.8 since it has a closer focusing distance. I bough the 2.8 before the f4 came out, if it was possible to get all my money back I would have swapped. Not to mention the fact that the F4 is smaller and lighter, I seldom use this lens under f4, the 24-70 I do use 2.8 a lot though.

You can easily edit your photos to look like the sample one using adobe lightroom presets. A 1.8 lens would achieve better blur then the kit lens you're currently using, however the same level of blur can be achieved by standing as far away and extending the zoom all the way to your subject. You will now be aperture @ aperture 5.6. Daytime shooting I always user A mode, using the built in flash helps light up the face, or sometimes you can use center metering so the camera knows to adjust the exposure enough for the face, that tends to give you background highlights like you sample foto.

you wanna get the 35mm 1.8 dx lens and not the 50mm 1.8 fx version.

I'd go for a refurb D800 same price as those :) if budget was an issue.

I Have both lenses, was painful making those purchases, but once I looked through the viewfinder, price was forgotten! It's like they enhance your view, probably not, but compared to cheaper lenses, sure feels like it.

I always clean after every job with Nikon lens cloth and cleaning solution. I use Nikon Clear filters, NC, on all my lenses. except for the 50mm since it's so small. The filters were ordered together with the lens and were put on as soon as the boxes were opened, so the front lens element has never been exposed nor cleaned. The NC filters seem to be made of the same quality as the lens elements.
