OK, I think there are one or two here in Tucson. I have contacted the local camera club also, to see if they have any Olympus users. I'll let you know.

Hi Chris, have the camera in front of me. It nvere gives me all the scene options that the manual says. All I get are Magic, Pan, Auto etc. It nvere goes to the other sub menus. I am ready to trash this thing.

Yes Geo, I know the PDF file is the manual but it was cheaper to pay 10 bucks than burn a print cartridge. I am sure you are correct in that there other sub menus but I have tried everything I can of and still can't find them.

Oh, there's lots of film out there if you know where to look. I even have film for my Poloroid Speedliner circa 1957. Still takes good photos. As for the 10 bucks fr the PDF file, I have the PDF file but it was cheaper to pay the ten bucks than to use up an entire 15 buck print cartridge.

I am an amatuer (rank) when it comes to digital photography. I still prefer film! But, I have had two Olympus camers now and really loved the first one. It is the C-700 Ultra Zoom and is so similar to an SLR that it was easy to learn. Now I have the VR-320 12.5X optical super wide and I can't barely use it. I went so far as to order the manual (10 bucks) which was nothing more than the PDF file printed and bound. Ripoff. Last night was the 4th of July and the manual said there was a fireworks setting in the scenery function. I followed the instructionsbut all I got was SCN/ and the Portrait/Falsh Auto and OFF settings. Nothing else. Are they hidden somewhere? Is the manual wrong? or Do I have a camera that doesn't have all the fucntion the mnaual says. Can someone HELP!

Thanks, I have tried those you suggested. They do cut the glare and you can see the screen but my face is reflected on the screen then! So it just creates another problem. I think I may contrive some sort of cloth cover on the bill of a ball cap that will cover the entire area and try that. Question is, will I still get the reflected ugly mug! Watch this space and thanks for all the help.

I have an old Olympus 700 but it is only a 2 meg pixel camera. But full of functionality AND a reflex view finder. Guess I'll go out into the shop and invent something. Nice chatting. I'm from Tx as well, Austin and Kerrville. Was going to retire in K'ville but the property taxes chased me to AZ.

Gosh, you would think that would all of the cameras out there, someone would have invented something by now. Of course, it would require some thought as it would need to be universal. Maybe I'll think about it. Kind of like the old days of photography when the photographer would get under the black cloth!

Thanks for the response but you missed my point. Do you know of a way to shade the LCD screen in the bright outdoors so you can see your subject and frame it properly.

Thanks Bobber, I see you are from Fredericksburg. We used to neighbors, I lived in Kerrville. Great to meet a fellow Texan!

Forgive my ignorance, but what is HDR?

I have been dabbling in digital photography for a number of years and have yet to figure out all the things my cameras can do. I have two Olympus cameras, an old C-700 Ultra Zoom and a new VR-320. The old cam was great as it had a view finder but the new ones do not so it is practically impossible to frame a scene in bright out doors as you can't see the LCD screen. Does anyone have a solution to this?
