update on my lens issue. I had the the contacts cleaned, with no help. I sent the lens off to Canon and they replaced an internal electrical part (not sure the name) but it was 430 dollars. Half the price of a new lens, and it now works great. Canon was great to work with, with a rapid turn around, less than two weeks turn around time. Hope this helps with those of you with the same issue.

Hi Tobster
It maybe a dirty contact on 24-105 f4 lens or one of you lens contact is damage; but try cleaning with a soft cloth first dampen with a little isopropyl alcohol at 50% solution just clean the contacts only but if you use a Qtip be sure to look for an cotton threads left behind after cleaning and remove them.

I have this very lens It's one of the best walk around short zoom lens Canon makes in my opinion.

Well RichardSM....I tried your suggestion and I believe it did work...I will put it thru its paces tomorrow, but it did successfully take a few pictures tonight. Thank you so much for your help!

I have a Canon 24-105 1:4 L IS Lens. When attached to my 5DII camera I get a message that says err 1 and says communication error between camera and lens. My other lenses seem to work fine. I suspect that it is something in the IS portion of my lens. I does not matter if the IS switch is turned off or on I still get the same message. Anyone else ever experience this issue before? Guess I am not sure if the lens is repairable or not. Thank you for any suggestions!

I spend tons of money on camera equipment, and my son captures this with his phone. I did touch it up some in LR, but I thought it was a great capture as it was.....just wanting your input. Thanks

What device were you using to open the the memory card - a PC, a Mac, a ? ?

If a computer, the message just tells that the file system of the card can not be read. When that happens, do not reformat.

On the other hand most modern computers can read a variety of file format protocols and these have been tailored to be more or less universally readable. Card manufacturers seek a large potential customer-base, so universality is important to them.

A PC John. I am sure the dat is still on the card, the photos were shot in RAW

Unfortunately those are not the most reliable cards. There are many recovery software programs on the market to recover your images with, some are free.

Thanks MT Shooter, can you please name a good program or two? Guess its time to upgrade to some new and better cards!

When looking for photos on my memory card, I get a message that says that I must format my card before I can use the card. I know the photos were on the card when I removed it from my camera, but now when I put the card back in the camera, I get a message that says the camera can not read this type of file. I fear I have a corrupt card, the photos on their are very important photos that can not be reproduced....Im not sure I have provided enough information here. Photos were taken with a Canon 5D-MII and the card is a PRO Master 4GB CF. Pictures were attempted to open with LR-4.

There still seems to be data on the card, just wont open

Thank you

FYI ...About a year ago I went to a Battery + Bulb store asking for two bulbs to place in my automatic garage door opener. It was recommended that I replace them with, I believe LED bulbs. They were expensive, but since they were guaranteed, I figured they would last awhile. I quickly found out that when the lights were on, might garage door would not work using the remote! I returned the bulbs and clerk told me that the bulbs emit a frequency of some sort when they are on, therefore it blocked the signal from my remote. Just a little Gee Whiz information!

I do not understand why people keep looking BACK. Time to let go and forget. That is the only way to heal. You can NOT change what happen yesterday but you can make TODAY the best day of you life and tomorrow even better by letting go of what happen many years ago that you will NEVER be able to change.

Look at your own profile tiger1640 under occupation! That is why no one should ever forget!! As a Vet myself I find it offensive that anyone would suggest that we NOT look back....lots of bloodshed so that, as you put it, can be FREE! I am not being critical of your POV... each to their own....But I for one, will never forget, and will always continue to look back. Thank you to Vets that posted on here!

I think the answer to your problem may lie in post processing. Try increasing the contrast and boost the saturation and/or vibrance

Thank you....I guess besides learning my camera...I better get to know my lightroom and Photoshop!!!....a lot for this ole brain to absorb!! LOL
