well, I looked up this site because I wanted to know more about my camera. I have been playing with photography for many many years...since I had my first son at 18...but I have really never understood my camera and all it can do. I took a course even in photography but just never really understood what I was learning thoroughly ...but with the actual act of "DOING"" that we are engaged in in this thread I have learned more than I ever learned in my year long course. I was lazy then but now I actually try to put into practice what I have learned since I have never taken so many pictures! I love this thread and I love you as a teacher! You are doing a wonderful job!

Welcome to Day 65 :). Today let's do something simple. Flowers. They always brighten my day .. and with winter hanging on so long .. maybe it will brighten yours too.
Well I say simple but flowers seem to be my nemesis. I can never get them close enough or sharp enough. I don't own a Macro lens. So extreme closeups are pretty much
out of the question for me. Plus I keep trying to shoot them handheld instead of with a tripod. It's not like I don't know better ... maybe I'm just lazy LOL.
So paint them, photograph them, photoshop them, grab them from your archives. Flowers, flowers and more flowers.
Here are a few examples to get us started.

This will fill up fast!! And you started off with pansies...I love them & their cute little painted faces. Beautiful...all of them. Hey, I wish everyone would name the flowers they post...I don't know a lot about names of flowers.
Think I'll go ahead and post a few from my archives...right after I find a rooster...to say GOOD MORNING EVERYONE

Beautiful shots. You must of read my mind. Did someone tell you I'm on my way to the Philadelphia Flower Show today. When I got up this morning I said to myself I hope she picks flowers today and like magic my wish came true. LOL. Have a great day everyone see you later with some pictures from the show. The theme this year is Hawaii.

Good Morning Everyone. Since I missed yesterday I'll combine the funny with the front focus shot. Here it goes.

First picture of dog (boxer i think) Had me laughing so hard I'm surprised I even got the shot. He would duck everytime I would hold up the camera. Then jump back up and look over the fence.

Next two are front focus

I did head to the Deering Farm to "capture" it in snow and to try out my new polaroid gradient filter. I was pleased with both. I have so many shots, these seem to fit the "focal point". Photogrl - be proud, checked my histograms and adjusted EV steps. I was "shooting blind" except for the info display on my camera - with tinted glasses, sun, the back LCD display can't be seen. For you history buffs: This farm was settled June, 1770 by John Dearing who was born 12/25/1748 a good 30 miles from the site (which is atop a ridge). When he married in 1773 he brought his wife all that way by horseback and they built a log cabin for their first home. The one on the site now would be considered a mansion.

TeriO, you will be happy with me because I went back different time of day, different conditions. It won't be my last trip (10 minutes from our house at most)
