I was told that "in-camera" formatting also repairs any problem pixels that may have developed.
Where as using your computer to format will not.

Just a nit pic, but I've never been a fan of plane contrails (photo 2), it takes away from the impact of this photo.

Nice shots though!

Where are you in Alabama? I used to live in Huntsville.

Your ISO also plays a factor, the higher your iso the more chance of grainy images.

My Pentax K200D does not have a "user" mode, my K20D however does have a "user" mode. I however have never used it as I usually always keep my K20 in aperture priority.

I have always been a Pentax user so I don't know about other makes.

Farmington is a very nice area! I believe that N.M. gets a pretty bad rap because most people think that is mostly barren.

But there is a lot of beauty, there you just have to know where to look.

I know what you mean about the birds, I hope you have a looong lens.

Good luck and nice knowing you.

Welcome Linda,

It's not about how expensive a camera you have but how you use it!!
I'm using a second hand camera, brand new is a little out of my reach!!

Good luck to you and always keep learning, it's what keeps a person young!!

14kphotog,

The gardens are a very distinctive place, I thought it looked familiar even from just the small slice in your picture.
I just tugged through a good 9 inches of fresh snow last Thursday to the top of rattlesnake ridge in the Garden for some nice pictures! Talk about testing the limits of the weather seals on my K20 and lens!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed you visit to our beautiful park!

JC56,

The Kr is a very nice camera, I have a good friend that picked on up, he also purchased my K100D super for his daughter! If it weren't for him I wouldn't have the new lens I have :0) !!
I also agree that Pentax has poor marketing.

Mr. Photog, thank you for the welcome!

Us Pentax users are far and few between, but it is nice to belong to a site that does not condemn due to your camera choice! I've heard horror stories!

Nice pic of you, it looks like it was taken at the Garden of the Gods here in the Springs.

Again thank you ALL for the warm welcome.

Hello all!
My names Joseph, I'm a long time Pentax user!
Digitally, I started with the K100d Super then to the K200d which I still have, and now to my pride and joy the K20D!

I'm looking to learn and improve in my photography and this looks like a fine place to start.

Good day all!
