at least you saw birds; A pair of sharp-skin hawks have built a nest about 50' up in a pine tree that is about the same distance from the bird feeder. The birds that normally visit are absent

So far I am staying agile and either bend over at the waist can reach the floor or bend at my knees and the floor; but then I am young 74. Today I sent the afternoon until 16:00 trimming brush and trees using a gas powered Stihl pole saw and 18" 250 saw. I wore out early.

He posed well until I got the camera. Shot at about 87' with a 18- 300mm at 300mm f/8 mounted on a D500 at iso 4000. Lightroom says there is no detail in the dark feathers. The focus was on the birds shoulder. f/8 should have been as sharp as this lens can do. This was one of those days I wish I had a 200-500 or a longer prime. I am not sure I could have gotten sharp feathers with any lens in the low light due to the cloudy day. Comments welcome.
Maybe he will be back today.

They are not sharp; that is, I do not see the individual parts (barbules) of the feathers. Before people say my monitor is not good enough I see the individual hairs on my family when taken with the 28 - 300 mm at 10' mounted to my D850.
I do not think these would print well on an enlargement.
But: the composition and posing are very well done.

Just to be clear, you asked me what I thought, I notice that others disagree with me.

Ben the church I go to has one Police officer on Sundays; but as one of the pastors said "there are many who attend and conceal carry and who shoot accurately".

My wife asked me if I wanted to travel east to Ohio to shoot eclipse photos. I said i was not interested in getting 500 mm lens and a ND filter. So we stayed home in Fort wayne

Just a suggestion look at the history of the focal length you use most in the past for your favorite shots. I reviewed the lens focal length I used on my D500 (DX) a recent trip to Slovenia, and Northern Italy and most shots were wide angle and about 25% greater than 100 mm and only 10% at 300mm.

These trees represent less than 1% of the total number of the trees on the place and are either shading fruit trees, too close to other trees causing issues or leaning more each year towards our house. Think this act as pruning at
1/2" above the ground. The squirrels will still have plenty of walnuts and whatever seeds they take off the bird feeder.

A mill would at least pay for the "value" of the lumber and I have a friend that has trees he wants to mill. As long as I don't buy a new mirrorless camera and new lenses I have then money. Many of the trees have to be removed.
But: it will take a year to dry the wood if it is all 4/4, make it 2 years for 8/4 and and 3 years for 12/4. I may have enough flat surface to stickler that much wood while it dries. In the past I only did 3,000 board feet at a time.

I would need to build more racks to store the finished lumber. I may build a new rack any way to make better use of floor space.

I do not want to turn the wood into firewood. I may have a lead on someone who will buy the trees.

My 20 year old granddaughter wants a bed to go with the dresser and nightstands I made her, so maybe 100 board feet or so of the oak will go for that.
When my son and daughter-in-law build a house with a larger wood shop than he currently has he would have the space. Some day or my grandchildren he will have my tools
