Sometimes your profile will disappear and it looks like your desktop is gone. Look on your C: drive for the "Users" folder. If you see two folders that have your login name with one slightly different the system has created a new profile for you. If that is the case you can copy the desktop folder from the old profile to your new one. There are several other things that might have gone wrong. Most things are fixable.

Is there any reason not to leave the vibration reduction turned on? They all seem to have an on off switch.
