Thanks for showing me what P/S can do to photos, if only ever so slight. They do look far better and I may be a convert someday!! (lol) The falcon was taken with my SX20 with full 20x optical zoom and 4x digital zoom hand held. The bird was high on a power line and I just kept zooming in until I was this close.

I agree also that the lake photo would have been better had it been taken either early in the am or later in the day, my favorite times, but when you're vacationing and travelling by car, you take what you get. I really do like what you did to this photo. Please feel free to 'fix' any of my photos.

The photo of the car was taken from the higher vantage point because of its location in the dealer's showroom (garage). If I were low, there would have been a lot of extraneous stuff back there. I kind of liked it this way because of the pouncing jaguar onto the nameplate.

Once again, thanks for replying and critiquing my photos. This is my second day at UHH and have seen some beautiful photos and some of the other. I hope to continue taking pictures and having them reviewed.

Thanks.

Hi ckcougar, folks ask me what kind of camera to buy and just tell them any, as long as it say 'Canon' on the front. I have an SX20is which I love.

As to the photo of your pelican, I usually like looking at the front side of animals. I was always told that no one likes to look at a horse running away, same for birds. I guess this was just a drab day or else your colors would be more vibrant. Have fun with your 'new' camera!

An unusual view of the Lincoln Memorial. Normally, I would find the green lights offensive, but somehow, they bring out the color of the lights on the Memorial.

Not sure if this is the place for photo reviews, but here's another of the bunch that I took while in So. Cal.

Thanks for your helpful critique. That's what this forum is for and I appreciate any help I can get. Many years ago, I joined a camera club and I thought I was pretty good. They were heartless in their critique, but it helped me immensely. Camera clubs back then used only color slides projected on the screen. I NEVER cropped or used masks to enhance my slides and focused on putting it on the film - first. Sometimes I succeeded. I guess I need to concentrate more on my old standard. I really don't like Photoshopped photos, even though some look pretty good, you can still tell that they are fake.

I enjoy outdoor photography immensely. After photographing weddings for many years and working in a portrait studio, I've had my fill of people pictures. Although I still take them, I prefer candid photos of people vs. posed ones. I've attached a few photos from my recent trip to California. Let me know what you think - honestly - don't hold back.
