Hey UHH could use some advice. I have been asked to take pictures of an up-coming Color Fun Run. Not sure if you are familiar with these types of runs, but they use colored corn starch and throw at the runners-cover them with it. I am wondering what would be the best way to protect my camera while in the midst of the fun. No I am not running-this old body is beyond trying that, but will be at different stations-different colors thrown-the end of the race they have a color throw at each other. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The day I look into the viewfinder and see a big bug in there is the day I'll drop my camera. That's why I always use a camera strap.

Jerryc41-I agree with you. I don't know if the camera strap would keep me from throwing my camera down.

I had a D3100 and stepped up to the d5100 and have never looked back. I LOVE my 5100! I have had it for about a year now and I am still learning what it can and cannot do. I purchased it with the kit lens and then got a 300mm. I have used it every way possible. Have a great time and you are never to old to learn-I am an old dog with a new toy.

Old tool-I had to chime in when I saw you were talking about just purchasing a Seagate drive. I purchased my Seagate backup plus 1tb ext port drive - had it less than 6 months - plugged it into my laptop and nothing! My laptop won't even recognize the drive now. Seagate said I could pay them $300 or more to recover the data. I can't begin to tell ya how upset and angry I am. So good luck with your Seagate.

I use to live in Florence-down the road from those beautiful mountains-now I live in the south plains of Ks and the ONE thing I miss more than anything is waking up and seeing in the distance the beautiful Superstition Mountains. In fact, I have a print from Ted DeGrazia of the Superstition Mtns; his brother who lived in Florence (my old band director who Like Ted is no longer with us) use to have Ted down all the time and that is where I got our signed print. I am looking at it right now. So thank you I think I will keep this bookmarked. Thanks for sharing.

OK, Hog'ers, I just bought my very first DSLR, the Nikon D5100! All I've had up to this point are superzoom bridge cameras and, although they have been very adequate, still, when I picked up the D5100 for the first time AFTER it was paid for, I had this strange feeling come over me, kind of like a kid feels on his birthday when he wakes up feeling strange in a good way because he could almost swear he grew up overnight.
I got the D5100 with the 18-55mm kit lens, a Nikon 55-300mm lens, and a Nikon 40mm macro lens. So.....tell me about your experience with this camera, if you own one. If you have a similar camera, tell me what I have to look forward to over and above my experiences with pretty decent superzooms. If you can remember what it was like for you when you bought your first DSLR (or SLR), tell me about it. This post should turn out to be a really, great, nostalgic one and I look forward to your responses.

Hi BuckeyeBilly - I jumped from a D3000 to D5100 and absolutely positively glad that I did; I am still learning all the buttons and whistles; I have an 18-55mm kit plus 70-300mm; I have taken macro to sports, used the night vision and I am very pleased; Hdr is okay, but prefer PP; I have taken pictures using Jpeg to raw - love it!!! I am sure after you crack a book (David Bush's) you will have a blast with it! Have fun! See ya around UHH. Kanfoto

[quote=Kathleen93]When I was faced with this challenge and could not physically move from my location, I put my lens right up to the fence, changed the settings to all manual and then focused on my subject that was beyond the fencing. The images turned out fairly good. The slight impression of the fence is there but T

Thank you Kathleen, I will try this tomorrow when my great-nephew starts his summer softball season. Have a great day!! Hope to see more of your images on UHH. Carol

I have a slight problem, ok a BIG problem, I took pictures at my great-nephews baseball game at State and unfortunately, could not get close to the action-huge screen around the field of play. My problem is I had to take the pictures and you can see the netting. I am a true beginner with PSE10 - can someone tell me what would be the easiest way of doing post-processing removing the net, or is it possible? Please help.
