Business have to pay the taxes. Whether they pass it on to you is their decision.

I typically shoot in very low light. You have to compare apples to apples: two cameras with the same lens and ISO photographing the same scene. "Full frame" are typically better but it varies from model to model.

Go as a friend.
Maybe consider not going but sent a gift.
Think of it in other terms. Is she asking others to work for free. Like the person who is making the cake.
Remember, we could work every day of the year for free, if we wanted to.
Or tell her that photography is a lot of work and you really want to be there as a guest so you can properly enjoy the wedding.

With all due respect, you might see if you can get an experienced video shooter to help with the wedding. Secondly, this is impossible to answer without knowing what camera you're using. If you have a late model Sony or Canon, you can actually get away with full auto. Others are best done as one shot, on a touch screen. BBF can be useful on some cameras while shooting video.

I totally agree. Find someone with experience to take the video. Events like this are too important to make mistakes at while you are learning.

I don't know but I have the same problems. I like the images but problems like this drive me crazy. I've never had that problem on my a6000. I don't remember abut the a6300 with native lens. But it does occur with my a7r2.

This all depends on what you are trying to accomplish and in what kind of conditions. There are those who swear by APS-C sensors for their reach when shooting sports or action wildlife. Others who depend on the low light capabilities of FF cameras for shooting street, event, concert etc... But, yes in certain settings a crop will get you "better bang for your buck"

A side note, professional sports photographers tend toward FF (though some use APS-C in certain settings) because they only care about the "better bang" at almost any cost. To them $10,000 for a lens seems reasonable.

A friendly note. A crop frame does not give you more reach. It's a 35mm lens that projects to a 24mm sensor. If you crop the FF you will get the same apparent "reach". For example, Hold one hand away from you and form a circle. Without moving, make the circle smaller. You have cropped the image but your hand doesn't really move closer in. However, there are benefits to a "cropped" frame. I own both. And then there is mirrorless...

I use Sony's for personal use sometimes. I think they are great camera's but when I'm hired, I use my Canon camera's. They have the accessories and lens that I need. Too expensive to convert over.

Even with my 1 DX which is supposed to have tremendous water sealing, I put rain gear on it at the first hint of rain. I'm not going to take any chances.

We're well over a hundred days in the disaster in Puerto Rico. Most people still don't have drinkable water or electricity.

No. They would just dress like the reporters. Are you suggesting something like the on-field football sports photographers do. They wear vests that say NFL or ESPN. We already have a problem with people printing fake press credentials.

However, we have a First Amendment. If you want to go to events and take pictures and put it on your website or blog, you can do that.
