I honked my horn and the crows left! I moved away from the nesting area so the male would take the food to the nest! I returned later and the female was finishing the feeding!

Wow, beautiful series!

Another damn Yankee like me from NJ. Welcome aboard. It's a lot nicer here, and less expensive too.

Thank you, I agree! And thanks everyone!

I know these little darters are fast. Amazing you nailed them @ 800mm ???

Thank you Everyone. Yes, I used a 400mm f/2.8 with a 2x tc. It's still pretty difficult to keep them in frame, even with a full frame camera!

agree that the first is great. a very compelling image - congrats!

Only have said this openly and via PM about one other image I've seen here ('though I actually could but a couple of others, but not have expressed as of yet),.... this is an award winner.
can explain, my opinion only, in PM if interested

Thanks everyone, and thank you Mindzye!

Hello,

I was hoping to see if I could get some more Purple Martins this morning, but I didn't see any. But there were plenty of Barn Swallows flying about, catching bugs in mid-flight. I was able to get a few shots off - the trick was to wait until they flew towards me to try and lock on focus. It was almost impossible to try and get focus as they flew past. Hand held. Shooting info above the bird pics.
Thank you for looking,
Kevin

Welcome to the forum. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. And also, pointers to good birding sites in the state. I am in central NC.

Thank you everyone! I know a few people near Carey! We have lots of decent places to shoot near the coast here in Wilmington. Once the nesting begins, the south end of Wrightsville Beach is a great place to view Black Skimmers, all kinds of Terns and Oystercatchers when they nest and the eggs hatch!
