No disrespect to the previous poster. Please see below for factual information from the actual society website. Some commonly misstated facts in the other link.

Started with RAW and loving it so far. I read somewhere that LR is non-destructive and PSE is destructive. I am currently learning PSE and I am really enjoying if for the level I am at. Do I have to worry about opening RAW in PSE and losing my original. I had understood that my RAW files will never change from the original.

If I shoot a shot and have just a few little 'blinkies' that show loss of detail due to overexposure, I sometimes use the -1 or -2 comp. to correct the shot, then re-shoot. If there are lots of 'blinkies', I make either a speed, f-stop or ISO change.

Please elaborate on what you mean by "blinkies"...tx.

I have Canon 550 (T2i) and a Promaster 7500 EDF flash. The manuals don't seem to cover the wireless ability of how to set and use this flash off camera. Does anyone have experience with this combination and can you confirm that a) this flash can be used wirelessly and b) how to do so. Much thanks.

This picture is precisely why I got into photography. Years later, and grabs at the heart. Very generous of you to share. A real treasure.

Greymule,

I love the person. So small that I didn't even see (him/her?) In the picture until I looked closer. Made a beautiful picture more interesting to me.

Tx for sharing.

Well all credit goes back to Gaileroni, I could see the fidelity of that original capture, and they were gracious enough to offer the rest of us a chance to try our hand at something.

Indeed!

Here are some tweaks

Great Tweek from a great original Have no idea how you can choose from all the submissions.

I love Tilde531's best but of course I am biased

Okay now I'm starting to get to know y'all (I'm totally not from the south...not even sure where that came from or if I ever used it before). Didn't know why you were biased til I read your "locations". Funny. Cute couple.

I prefer a traditional approach and here is my take.

Yep, that stem was bothering me too. It looked "ill". Thanks for curing it.

A little different approach. Quickly done in PhotoShop. Converted to greyscale (dumps all color). Then converted back to RGB color, so that color could be selectively added.

A bit of tweaking of the background to make it more high key. A touch of the "flame". This followed by a sweet kiss of a plastic wrap filter. Expanded canvas size to give a bright white "matt", to help the image "snap".

Moose eyes are you serious!!!??? Fabulous.

Fascinating image, fantastic focus. Great photo.

I decided to take it in a different direction... Inverse colors(with a little tweaking of the RGB curves.

I'm gonna play with this, too... but HAD to say this blue version you did here is my personal FAVORITE. I would be moved to print and keep it for sure.

The blue one was the surprise of the day. I didn't see that coming. Very unique. Something to think about in the future. This is a good lesson for me which is don't get boxed in and forget the possibilities. So for example, I took the picture and loved that I was able to capture some of the colors of the season in the blurred background. So I became stuck on those colors and likely never would have come up with that idea myself. I can only imagine uses for it in the future. Imaginist I am looking forward to your interpretation.

I really love what each of you brought out of my original shot. I didn't expect all of this! From fun, to keeping it natural, to super artistic, I'm honestly not sure which I like best! I also appreciate how some of you changed up the size to a square. Thank you all....keep em coming!

Hello. I'm new to the site....been reading the posts for a while. I would love to see what others can do with this photo in photoshop or LR. I am not a user of either (yet) but would love to see what can be done to an image. Certainly I look at other's posts and works of art, but I think I may find a new appreciation for post production with the help of the experts. Taken with a Canon T2i, 100 iso, f5.6, 1/50, 55-250 kit lense. Had a really fun morning on a brisk day at a nearby park taking these pics. So you have my permission to do anything with this pic if you promise to repost it here and tell me what you did. Tx.
