Well, your choice of equipment will determine what you are capable of attempting to shoot. Certainly, as I walk my typical route I know my camera (Olympus TG-6) is okay for point-and-shoot scenes, as well as macro. Forget about ICL cameras.
I favor a versatile Olympus TG-6 for point-and-shoot practicality. It is lightweight and has some customizable presets. True, it is not a super camera, though its macro capabilities are remarkable. There is an add-on telephoto for longer distance shots. It is adequate and versatile for many outdoor situations. I can hand-hold this all day long and not have any fatigue due to bulky camera gear.
It's great to see bees in action. They are an integral part of how Nature balances our environment unobtrusively.
I love hand-carrying an Olympus TG-6 when I walk the L.A. River Bike Path early on Sundays just at dawn. Landscape, flora, and fauna await the new day. Thank you.
While I have most of the Olympus ILC bodies and many lenses, including the Pro zooms (wide, normal and telephoto), my preference for hand carrying on outdoor walks is the Olympus TG-6 point-and-shoot. It is small, light, and surprisingly robust in features and pre-sets. Any thoughts from others?
Thanks for viewing my inaugural post. Simplicity for camera gear is important by allowing me to use my Olympus TG-6 at a moment's notice since it is in hand or pocket most of the time whenever I am away from home. It's easy to be an amateur photojournalist.

Rather than ICL equipment (which I also own), my take-anywhere gear is an Olympus TG-6 Tough camera. Handheld or in my pocket, it is very accessible, versatile, and fun to use. Many presets or scene-specific modes are available, plus two customizable buttons, allow a huge gamut of choices.
I have the C1 and C2 buttons for sports capture (fast moving subjects) and macro (closeup of flowers or insects), respectively. If I want to capture a sequence (a few fps), I just hold the button down in anticipation of movement.
TG-6 is waterproof, dust-proof, and drop-proof (specific limitations). I carry extra batteries just in case. It takes an SD card, such as a 256 Gb that I use, so one never runs out of "film." Camera shoots in jpeg &/or RAW.
