Thanks for the welcome, appreciate it.

Lots of very beautiful scenery near Merlin. I need to do more exploring up your way now that the smoke is gone.....for a couple months!!

Again, thanks.

Quite the shot! Wish we could do that here but there is way too much smoke!!

Well, broke down and bought a RX100 iv. Was a reasonable price and I wanted to see if I could live with the shorter telephoto. So far, still working out the kinks and pages, and pages of options...

Question- Did you take that night pic using the "Scenes" and Night photos program or ?

RX cameras are fixed lens cameras. My RX100 is a M5 with the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar F1.8-2.8 8.8-25.7 lens (24-70mm) equivalent. The newest model MVll has the Zeiss Vario-Sonnar f2.8-4.5 9.0-72 (24-200mm) equivalent. This camera is very pocketable. If you need interchangeable lens then, definitely look at the Leica or the Sony a6xxx series. There are excellent Zeiss and lenses for the a6xxx series cameras. Note: I also own the a6000.

So with the a600 what lense(s) do you use? Read the review of the a6000 to a6600 and might be interested in the 6600. The RX100 is quite the work horse for it's size but my hands get lost on such a small camera. Still, am weighing the options.

Ran in to a photographer the other day. He had a Leica( I believe SL, 47 mp) with a 285mm lens on it. How long of a lens do you want &, does any body make an adapter to mount other manufactures lens on the Leica? Welcome to the hog.

I probably don't want to spend that much on a Leica + the lens. If I had to have only one lens it would probably be somewhere in the 50 mm for a 35.

Ah, yes, a fixed lens but looks like it has one heck of a zoom on it. Just read a review and it appears to be very well received. Will delve into it a bit more and thank you for the heads up - does look like it might be what I am looking for at the present.

Thanks again,

Thanks for the Sony RX suggestion. Have been looking at Fujifilm models, too, in particular the AR7IV (think that is the model) and was impressed. However.... the lenses for that are huge and not sure that is what I want to lug around. Then again, not sure about having a single fixed lens. I know, make up your damned mind.

What lenses for the RX do you have/like?

An old film photographer who wishes to enter the digital age. Have worked with numerous formats - 8x10 and down. My "main" camera was a Hasselblad but I am looking for something a lot smaller and something that I can carry even on my dog walks. Still, I do wish for something that has the quality of image I am accustom to. Too much to wish for? Oh, I don't really want abunch of lenses, maybe 2 at the most. Have been considering the Leica Q2 but wish it had a longer tense on it. Opinions greatly appreciated.

Oh, am also looking at purchasing a Canon Pro 300 printer. From what I can gather, this is also good for b&w printing. Again, opinions greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
