I-70 is not the most scenic of Kansas roads, at least the western end, if you get off on either side of it is where the beauty of the prairie really shines.
South of Oakley you will find the Castle Rock formations, north of Wilson is the Saline Valley and the lake.
Post rock country around Russell you will find the fence posts and old farmsteads made of limestone, some these old structures are really fascinating, and make for interesting landscape photos.
The I-70 route east of Salina is where the scenery begins to change with trees on the creek bottoms and becomes hilly. The Flint Hills are really pretty, but I'm a little biased being raised in western Kansas.

The photos are all nice but the first one, that sky is spectacular, thanks for sharing
Thanks for looking, that sky was a very short window as low ceiling clouds rolled in within just a couple of minutes at the most of that shot, glad you liked it.

The last picture is incredible.. Might I have permission to use it as a screen saver on my computer?

Love the sunrise shot! The entire series is wonderful.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it
Nice set you have there, we were there last week. A biologist I was shooting the bull with told me they were estimating 700,000 in the valley at that time. All I know no matter what the number was, it was amazing and the calling they do when leaving or arriving at the river is just plain awesome.

The third of the cranes in flight is gorgeous. I need to go there next year.
It is a spectacular experience, their calling when coming into the river or leaving is something you will never forget
