Excellent shots.

Well Thank You! We had a blast getting these shots. People that saw us running down levees and across ditches must have thought we were nuts. But we had a blast! I appreciate the look!

Have not posted in a while as I have been busy practicing with my new Sony A65. These are just a few of the pics that I got this weekend at Reelfoot Lake in TN of the Eagles as they return for the Winter. Any and all critiques and comments welcome. I have learned so much from the many gifted people at this site.

Hey Thanks....I haven't been on here in a while as I have been out practicing with my new Sony A65. Got bored this weekend and drove 5 hours to St Louis to take pics at the zoo and out around town. Issac was still dumping rain so I didnt get to practice as much as I wanted. My fav thing to do is load my jeep with Southern Rock CD's, the cameras and drive the back roads...Tough to do with gas at $4/gal.

I haven't posted anything in a while as I have been BUSY learning about my new Sony A65 Camera and also Lightroom4!. I love Lightroom4 and felt a little intimidated at first. But when I got serious about my photography, sat down and my desk, turned off the TV and watched the videos by Julianne Kost, I was well on my way to a better workflow in setting up my photos and images. Learning the camera and new software at the same time can be a little overwhelming, but after watching her videos on organization I have found it was well worth the time and effort.

Julianne Kost had a lot of great, practical tips that I put to work right away that has made things so much easier and saves a lot of time. I recommend her videos highly....Im no pro by any means, but this is a great way to learn lightroom.

I have 2 folders for photos right off the camera. One called "Jobs" and another called "FUN". Then under each of these I have subfolders A-F, G-J, K-P, and Q-Z, representing a subfile system that has "Last Name, First Name. Janie Hotrod's pictures will go in the "H" folder with a folder in it call Hotrod, Janie. One folder for orig pics and another folder for edited pictures. If customer doesnt want edited pictures there is no need for an edited folder. If this customer has several events for me to do then I break them down to Fathers birthday, Susans Graduation, and Hotrods family reunion. I use ACDSEE 5 PRO that will not only upload pics from cards but simultaniously backup photos to external drive Which has files stored in chronological order or by customers names. Its a lot of files but I can tell you in an instant where the pics are. I also have my own system for naming them for tidiness ....I hate having the same picture in 10 places on my computer! ..

Hope this helps !!! 8-)

I went to Reelfoot Lake which is a Wildlife Reserve for birds back in January and fell in love with taking pics of these magnificent birds. Then I found out there is this bird about 15 minutes from my house. Nice way to break up a day and take a drive and practice!.

This is my first attempts to catch my buddy Eagle with my new Sony A65 ..a lil too close for comfort. The nest is about 100 yds from the road within city limits and there are 2 juvies in the nest that are about 3 weeks old. PaPa is pretty protective as I wasn't able to get too far from my vehicle without him making his way towards me. Love to watch them about sunrise and late evening. Such beautiful birds.

Headed back to the nest

Going back for more

Taking a much needed rest

Yes, HDR did help you for sure in the Hall of Fame shot, primarily with your sky/clouds details. No argument there. As far as the "before" image of the interior that you posted, it is fairly dark-- and is it a fact that you are shooting jpgs?--if so, in your case, I am sure HDR helped you as well. My original point was, if one begins with a well-exposed RAW file of an image that does not have the extremes in lighting (Which HDR is actually meant to handle extremes in lighting), through photoshop, you can approach the same results. I still do not agree that the interior shot had extreme lighting challenges-- looking at a dark jpg does not really address the question. Jpg captures throw away as much info as they keep. You can't post it here, but if you shot in RAW, you can send me one well-exposed original capture to jim@creativeeyemedia.com and I think I could duplicate your final image without using HDR. If your image is too big to email, I can give you my ftp site to upload to.
Yes, HDR did help you for sure in the Hall of Fame... (show quote)

This particular camera does not shoot in RAW that I know of so Im guessing it is just a JPEG. Its a powerful lil camera SONY DSC HX100, Im still learning to use. Maybe next year I can upgrade as I progress! I appreciate your time and your help. Its people like you that keep me out and shooting!
