https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/observations/128708103https://inaturalist.ala.org.au/taxa/8271The spangled drongo (Dicrurus bracteatus) is a bird of the family Dicruridae. It is the only drongo to be found in Australia, where it can be recognised by its black, iridescent plumage and its characteristic forked tail. It feeds on insects and small vertebrates. It has complex and varied calls and is a mimic of the sounds it hears. It arrives in Queensland in late spring and breeds high in an isolated tree, producing three to five young each year.
Your focus stacked images are always fascinating and your narrative adds extra insight to the process and the subject - thank you.
Nice shot. We've seen maybe 1/2 dozen sunsets here on Central Coast NSW in the last few months. It would be nice if it stopped raining here! Figures released today show that Perth has had 100 times less rain volume than Sydney in March. It does make for dark, gloomy b & w shots over here though.
Nice set - one of my favourite spots in Oz. Great to watch the whale migration from the cliffs in winter.
Congrats Ron - i think I'll sign up to this magazine
Very nice shots. The Red Wattle is a beautiful bird with a very musical call.
Lovely shots. I recently moved down from Brizzy to Sydney. I love shooting the bush birds down here. We lived in Adelaide for 5 years, beautiful area.
Thank you all for the positive comments.
Yes with the Canon adapter. I used a cheap Viltrox adapter for a while but the fit was a bit loose and the camera errored until the adapter was reseated again. No such issues with the official Canon adapter. Doesn't pay to try and save money !!!
Saving for the R6 :-)
I'd heard the bird's call on my daily lockdown walks over a period of 3 weeks. One afternoon I took my Canon M50 with 100-400 mark II lens with me. The Yellow-throated Minor birds were making a commotion and so following their activity to a large gum in the bush I looked up to see the owl staring down at me. The Powerful owl is the largest of it's species in Australia. f6.3 1/800 330mm ISO5000
Thanks for the comments. This species isnt venomous but you don't want to be a bug when he's around!
Captured on the edge of a small creek running through Royal National Park NSW, Australia. Canon M50 with 100-400 II
Ok, sorry - i havent read all the rules. i have requested that the admin delete my post. I meant no offence or self promotion.
Hi,
The fist photo i am really pleased with using my fairly new Canon m50 with 100-400 Mark II lens. This is a tripod shot and perhaps the 12th or 13th image of the set. I am sticking to the free post tool of Snapseed at the moment because I am travelling Australia and don't have full size computer for processing. Settings were f5.6 1/500 400mm ISO 100. One image attached is the cropped processed image, the other is the JPG origional. I'm not shooting RAW due to lack of andriod tablet processing and storage on the move. Comments welcome.
Thanks for the kind words Norm. Yes, Oz is an amazing place. There are so many different environments and itmhardley ever rains! Hope you can get back one day.
