Thank you! I shot this wide open at 1.4, 13 seconds, ISO 1600. A bit of post processing adjusting overall exposure along with whites, highlights, shadows and blacks; also some dehaze. PhotoPills is a very useful app! I agree, the Sigma lives up to its reputation! Good luck with your plans for this fall!
The sigma 16mm 1.4 works great on my Sony a6000. It is not stabilized but that has not been an issue, although I only take pics, no video. I’ve attached a recent pic of the Milky Way I took using the Sigma 16mm.
I have a Sony a6000 and have read that the shutter count rating is 100,000. It seems your camera is just getting broken in and should be good to go for quite some time!
If you’re using the lunar 11 rule, you should be able to hand hold and use auto focus, unless you’re wanting to stack your images, then hand held isn’t a good option.... also, with the moon moving, I wonder if the 10 second delay is just enough to lose focus...
The Sony 70-300 is actually a full frame e-mount lens and you are right it is a bit big and heavy for the a6xxx cameras. The newer Sony 70-350 is specifically designed for crop sensor E-mount cameras.
I have the Sony a6000 plus the 55-210, which at times comes up short for me. I’ve got my eye on the Sony 70-350 which is specifically designed for the crop sensor cameras (as compared to the Sony 70-300 lens for full frame). I’ve heard great things about the 70-350 when paired with the 6400, 6500, and 6600! Good luck!
I don’t have the lens, but have read that it’s pretty amazing. One thing to be aware of if your camera does not have IBIS (a600, a6100, a6300, and a6400) is that the lens is not stabilized. Check out Arthur R on YouTube. He does great reviews and I know he reviewed this lens not too long after it came out last year! Good luck!
