Do the adopters support the automatic functions of the lens?

No, they do not.

Hey there!

I'm selling a Sony a7II with the 28-70 kit lens. It comes with the original box, strap, and charger plug. I'll also include 3 batteries, a charger, and 2 mount adapters for Minolta and Pentax lenses. I bought the camera ~6 months ago (MSRP $1000) to use with my vintage film lenses, but due to the coronavirus circumstances I need to sell this off.

I'm asking $850 OBO and would ask that you cover the cost of shipping (and insurance).

I'll post some photos of the camera, lens, and extras soon.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Whatever! You obviously don't know what a rangefinder is.

Lol, okay. I'd say you didn't, but whatever.

Very well then! But the TROL prevailed.

At least you own it.

In optical viewfinder mode there is no rangefinder at all. It has an electronic focus aid (similar to the focus confirmation light in an SLR) which uses the AF sensor.
But I guess you have never used a rangefinder camera.

The Leica M and the X100V both have OVF and EVF modes; Leica uses a 0.68x optical viewfinder magnification and Fujifilm uses a 0.52x magnification. Funny how the Leica M is still a rangefinder in your eyes, but not the X100V.

The Leica M has a rangefinder which is an optical mechanical system involved a coupling to the lens focusing ring, 2 mirrors, and 2 opening. It uses the principle of triangulation.
The X100v when in the EVF mode has an electronically simulated rangefinder which uses AF technology.

Side note: I just signed up for Ugly Hedgehog and it's immediately apparent that BebuLamar is a troll. I'm hoping that's not the culture of Ugly Hedgehog a whole, because I was really looking forward to becoming a part of this community. Looking like it's not much different than Reddit though :(

Bummer.

Obviously. I'm not talking about EVF mode. When in the OVF mode, how is it different than any other digital rangefinder on the market, including Leicas.

Except for the Leica none of the mentioned cameras have a rangefinder? Optical viewfinder isn't rangefinder.

Please then, elucidate — what does constitute a rangefinder? Explain to me how the Fujifilm X100V is not a rangefinder camera, but the Leica M is.

No, most of them make mirrorless cameras, either MILC or bridge cameras that are designed to look like rangefinders, but not actually rangefinders.

That's true, however Leica obviously makes a few digital rangefinders and so does Fujifilm. The X100V and the X-Pro 3 are both true digital rangefinder cameras. And the others (bridge cameras) can easily be adapted into rangefinder cameras with an optical viewfinder.

I heard rangefinder in this thread twice. Besides the Leica M which cameras are rangefinder?

Like you mentioned, the Leica M8 is a digital rangefinder camera. Also, the Fujifilm X100 series and X-Pro series are true rangefinder cameras. Additionally. the Ricoh GR III, Panazonic Lumix GX850, Canon EOS M6, Sony RX1, Nikon Coolpix A, Fujifilm XF-10, Sigma SD Quattro, and the Olympus PEN are all compact digital cameras with an easy to add-on optical viewfinder.

In my opinion, these are all great cameras and usually affordable (hold the Leica) for entry level photographers (and professionals alike) to dabble in photography.

Quite a few:

- Fujifilm X100 series or X-Pro series
- Leicas
- Panasonic
- Canon
- Sony
- Ricoh GR series (requires add'l purchase)

Most major brands offer an awesome compact rangefinder hybrid and they're a ton of fun.

I think about this in three buckets:

1) Film
2) Rangefinders / Point and shoots (cropped sensor, everyday camera)
3) DSLR or Mirrorless (full-frame/ASPC interchangeable lens system)

If your friend is relatively new to photography, I'd point them to bucket 2. It's a good entry point and fun for all. It's a great gateway to the other buckets as well. It's affordable and is great for travel, which tends to be the main reason my friends ask me this question in the first place.
