Your image is quite exciting. However the new presence of Topaz Inpressions I fear will begat a rain of look alikes, enough to make it "ho humm" when it should not be. Ah well!!

RBorud

Thank you for looking RBorud and for your comment. You could be right about look alikes, but is that not what pictures and paintings have been like over time. There are only a certain amount of things to be photographed and painted (as this picture is meant to look like a painting)
There has been lots and lots of pictures on the site that are of the same thing, but it is how the photographer captures them that make them different as is the PP work that if any is done to them....I like to see the different ways folk go about to get the end result. :D

Thanks angelak fo looking and commenting. Glad you like them, but do not think paint and canvas will get lost, must be great to recreate something you are looking at onto a blank canvas. :D :D

Fantastic work...if I had any money I would buy that program!!...(but raccoons don't have wallets!!)

Thanks Bob, may be the racoon hid some money in a hole in the ground, if not Christmas is coming up and I am sure Santa would accept a wish list from a good little racoon.( I am sure you have been good)... :D :D

That makes it even more versatile than I thought. Looks like I'll have to give it a try. THanks again.

Hi ebrunner, if you make your flames etc. on a layer and have deleted the background layer (looks very faint with the chequered board) save as a png for Photoshop and then it opens so you have a floating layer with you flames etc on it and it can then be moved to your picture. It will need resizing as it comes up a bit small.

I've never used that program, might have to look into it. Do you know if it works like a plug in for lightroom or is it stand alone?

Hi ebrunner These were my first try at using the program. It works as a stand alone and comes up in PhotoshopCS6 as a plugin. Do not know about Lightroom.

I really like the painterly quality of this photo. Seems like you can get some pretty sophisticated effects from this program.

Thank you ebrunner, I like the program very much. I was thinking of getting the trial and them saw what Dixiegirl had done with a rose, I have the trial at the moment but think I will buy as there is a lot you can do with it...

Well done, and extremely artistic. Did you have to paint the lines freehand.

HI ebrunner Glad you like it, no you have different brushes and styles, it depends on how you paint with them. I do them on a layer over the picture so you can see how it looks and delete if not right and start over again, then I can delete the picture and save just the lines or if you want it just for that picture flatten the image and save.

Inspired by jackm, I'm offering up a photo that's processed in the Orton manner (the quick version) for critique, comment, discussion or outright rejection. I do have more traditional versions but I've always liked this "arty" one best. I know it isn't to everyone's taste but here goes...

I really like what you have done to this picture, the tyre in the tree says there are children here and you can imagine them having a good time. The house blends in well being the colour it is and all in all looks like a place you would want to live...

I like the way there is three levels to this picture, the children playing in the water, then the silhouettes on the shore line and lastly the bridge with the hills behind. The colour of the sky is very nice with a great reflection. It gives the impression of a warm evening coming to an end.

There's a bonus :) one of those long-antennaed insects, very tiny, on the yellow leaf near base, left side.

#1 - Canon T3i, 10-18 mm lens, cropped.

#2 - Canon SX50, program mode.

Both shot in raw, with edits in PSE 12 and Nik.

Thanks for viewing!

Very good Linda, and the bug is good....
