I bet most of you out there never heard of the dye transfer process.
With a little Photoshoping I could really make those animals stand out in color.

I want to learn to make optical, wet darkroom, color prints! As it stands now I can develop and print black and white in the darkroom, and develop c41 and E6 color, but can only scan the results.

Why in the world do you want to mess around with all that messy stuff?

In order to get rid of the reflections you need a polarizing filter and position yourself at the proper angle in order to minimize or get rid of them.

First of all, those pictures had to be very dark and underexposed. Because you didn't try to process them in your own computer, you sent them to a lab who couldn't who couldn't properly color corect them. Or, you shot roll film. In that case there isn't too much you can do to salvage them.
I said goodby to roll film way back when digital came out and never looked back. Remember I've messed with film since 1942 and you wouldn't believe the expense it was to process.

My advise is to purchase one of the monitor calibration systems that are on the market. I use a product called Spyder Color Vision, and I have used it for many years. I also reclibrate my monitor every 3 or 4 months.

I've always believed that those who prefer B&W are color blind and cannot enjoy color as well. Remember at least 10% of the male population are color blind.

The whale shot is real great and the sunset pictures are very striking. But the scenic and sunset pictures would be a lot better if you decide whether you want more sky or foreground. don't divide the pictures in half - it divides the interest.

Yes. I know those camera stores. If they don't think you are a buyer, they will ignore you. I wen't into a camera store once to buy a whole bunch of equipment, and about half way through, the manager bawled the poor salesman out for spending too much time on me although I walked out with about $1500 in equipment.

Yes, I can imagine just what they did to it in two days. I say give it back to whomever she bought it from and demand her money back.

My son once bought a used camera that had that problem and it took me some doing with photoshop to try to correct it.
It's caused by a magenta cross-over in the highlights.

From what you have told me, I take it as a camera issue, and since digital cameras are almost all eletronic, I would say just scrap the camera and purchase a decent one.

I've seen this happen in printers when they are not properly callibrated and the colors cross over giving such effects.
How are the original images? are they normal? Or do they show this effect also? If they do, then it might be the camera.

Polarizing filters are real great for darkening skyes and getting rid of reflections. Although they give you a two stop penalty, I use them most of the time when shooting outdoors.
