I've messed around at one time with a pinhole camera that I made from a sheet film box, and it had a great depth of field I used the lid for my pinhole foil so it was only about a 1 inch focal length, and used ortho sheet film asa 6 about a 1 minute exposure and I had clarity from about 6" or less from the front to infinity. I lucked out on my pinhole size
I don't know what his closest shots were, but he sure captured the country!
That's something I guess I'll have to find out about, just getting into digital have a canon t1, still like using my "old" A1 film camera.
Adams used 16x22 glass plates, and long shutter times at f/64.
I still like to use b&w film and strive for that knock your socks off contrast. Just getting into digital so we will see where we can push it. Have you tried using a low I S O and small aperatures?
