here in Iowa we are second to Texas in wind power production. And more turbines being added. They are costly to build, costly to maintain and have a maybe 20 year life span. And even more costly to replace.

Did I mention that the wind does not blow hard enough to operate them at max capacity. 30+ mph wind needed 24/7 for max capacity. And they look ugly against the skyline.
And we have eco terrorists sabotaging the Dakota Access Pipeline construction.

BEtter get off my rant horse and go do something else.

Wayne you are right, I am asking about a 2x teleconverter.

I have Canon extension tubes and they work OK. It is the teleconverter I have questions about.

Can someone help me understand the why I need one? Or do I?

I think they are used to double the length of a lens, ie: 300mm to 600mm. Also the need for plenty of light as it reduces stops by 2 or more.

I have a Tamron 70-300mm that I like. A Tameron extension would give my a lot more long range reach so to speak, but does it degrade picture quality?

Is a tube really a poor mans long lens, or just a way to keep me poor.

Very nice. Sure sun may be better, but these are so even, colors come out vibrantly great. I want to make my autumn color trip next week and rain is forecast. These pictures are an inspiration to go anyway as perfect conditions seldom exist.

Thank You for sharing them.

I have a Meade EXT-90 scope that I just ordered the camera mounts from Adroma for. Looking forward to trying it out also. Another great learning experience.

I have a large number of photo albums of my father in his early days. Most pics are glued in. Spending hours with a scanner, probably burning it up, was not my thing.

My Manfroto tripod lets me insert the head in from the bottom. Doing this with a 60mm macro lens attached to the camera lets me photograph each pictures in RAW. Sure, there is a lot of post processing but those old B&W's can be cleaned up a bit. Then I can reprint to paper or create a DVD for distribution to interested family members.

Using a macro seems to give a better looking photo.

Works for me,

The software for this site is different than I have encountered on other sites. That said how do I navigate to different forums? It seems all I get is the most active, or current posts. I would like to brows just one topic, like say macro or post processing. Where are they?

Thanks for the help, I am sure there will be a lot more questions down the road.

My take away is Learn Lightroom. I have it, but it is totaly confusing. I have an online course that should cure that, when I get time to take it.

Lighting; I had thought about that. I am using a mix of mostly LED daylight bulbs and some curly fry daylight bulbs. I will switch to all curly fry and from the same maker. Changing the overhead tubes in the room to LED daylight did make a difference also.

I will have to get a picture of the setup, pro or con.

Thanks again,
Ken

First post, first question. Background color issues. Cannon T3i, Tamron, Cannon, Sigma lens. Brand does not seem to matter so much. White background always comes out red/pink.
I have tried changing the white balance to no avail. Auto or manual. Lights are constant LED, no filter screen in front of the bulb. RAW images processed to jpg. Don't like all the photoshop work involved in getting a semi-acceptable picture. Too much photoshop always effects color in a bad way. Rather get it right the first time.

Maybe changing background color to tan, but then I get an uneven color, tan and grey.

Lots of questions, I am trying to photograph old tools using a homebrew, cheap, basement "studio". So far I don't like anything I have created.

Browsing the threads here, looks like there is a lot of knowledgable people. I like to learn!
