Love the sky in the sea-scape! Welcome from another newbie.

Sheenagh, that's a great pic and I'd be well happy with it, like others say, the bubbles are perfect and the little girl is soft with the background out of focus. It works well.
FYI, with your camera and settings ie. Canon 7D, 52mm and f6.3 The DOF at 10 feet is between 8.8ft and 11.5ft [2.5 feet] and at 20 feet it's between 15.8ft and 27.4ft [11.6 feet]
So stand back would give you DOF and bring the girl into sharp focus BUT it would spoil the pic IMHO!

I love the M4/3. The sensors are indeed smaller than those used in DSLRs but I haven't been able to see any drop in IQ.
I got an Oly EPL-2 18 months ago after getting fed up with my Pentax K10d, I'd never been happy with it, never seemed to be able to get anything pin sharp. By comparison the oly is sharper, lighter and much less conspicuous. After a few visits to ebay I now have adapters and am using all my "legacy" lenses with great results. The only thing I'd fault the EPL-2 on is lack of viewfinder and the add-on VF is about £150 [UK] a non-starter for me. Happily I've managed to get a used Lumix G1 which has a VF and I absolutely love it![Same lens system.]

Not only photography but song trivia as well! I'd never heard of the song being called the hokey-pokey but apparently in the US and Ireland, that's what its all about!

I've been photographing stuff since about 1956 when I got my 1st Kodak 127. Still got it, along with every other camera I've ever owned! Love cameras, wish I was a better photographer ;-)
