Fuji X-T2 with 18-55 lens. Put a Godox flash on it or use the very small flash that comes with the camera.

That's true, but that's also the hook. Your data is harvested, it is sold, the feed you get is curated by AI bots. It's like living in a goldfish bowl, and the only control you have is over what you do not put in, even your 'friends' can post things that you become associated with but have no control over. If that doesn't matter to you, then fine, you have no privacy.

The problem is that what you put into it can come back and bite you on the ass. Ask #45 about Stormy Daniels. What "he put into it" is now a continuing international scandal.

Facebook is like an old TV drama - "No Hiding Place".

Curious as to why you developed this thought.

The only serious virus I've ever gotten came in the process of downloading a PDF of a Luna Pro manual from Google Docs. And I should have noticed more quickly than I did - clicked on one too many "Accept" notices, so it's my own fault.

Since 2008, when I first got on the book, I've never had a problem.

Mike: thanks for sharing. I’m looking forward to seeing some of your high mag stacks. Maybe Nikonian can add a set-up thread for extreme macro: defined as 10x or higher?

First on package delivery: as an urban dweller, I am familiar with the urban retailer: Front Porch. But only from news reports and social media. My process is to send it to the office where I work. Second choice have it held at the local shipper for pickup. There is no third option: I’m not taking a day off for a scheduled delivery and I’m not risking having it stolen.
Second on Adorama: customer service is only relevant when something goes wrong: Helen (Adorama) responds on UHH to try to resolve complaints. Of course, the customer is not always right. But she does an admirable job. I recently had a item delivered that did not work. Of course it’s frustrating. However Helen referred me to their customer service dept—and they sent a return shipping label and they credited back my Amex card.

My purchasing process is simple: Buy local (rarely is there an advantage to the “deal”); if they don’t have it-check Adorama; if they don’t carry it: B&H or directly from the company.

I will also buy used—and then I include KEH as my choice after “Local” & Adorama.

Yes nice flowers shots, I too love shooting the intimate parts of flowers, they are beautiful. However, I am thinking that in time you may find a pretty little critter inside a flower and become smitten with insects too. Welcome to the macro section, lots of good guys hang out here.

Yeah. All along I felt these were missing something—and then I re-read the topic title.

Just kidding. Nice set.

Newb here with D3400 and two kit lenses (18-55 and 70-300), both with VR.
Camera and all will be here Tuesday so will get some practice time before a Fall, 6-week trip to Austrailia, Tasmania and New Zealand.
My concern is if I take what I have, will I be adequately be able to cover the wide range of street, landscape, animal, etc shots I’ll have on the journey and (maybe more important), will I be happy with the kit lens results?
With the cropped camera, some of my reading indicates my current focal ranges are not the best for landscapes, etc.

Perhaps I will be able to discern this myself between now and departure. But, those of you experienced folks may already have sound advice on a lens(s) for such a trip.
If so, if you’d care to share what you would have with you on such a trip (and a Spring month in Alaska), I’d be pleaesed to know your opinions.

Shoot a lot between now and then. Read the manual, get a book, or whatever works for you. You want to know exactly how to do what you want to do. Using the camera should be second nature. You want to be thinking about the finer points of photography—not the controls and where to find stuff in the menus.

I have Arca-Type plates and clamps for ALL of my gear that connects to just about anything!!..I dropped the Manfrotto/ Bogen type connectors about 10 years ago, and I have not looked back.. The Arca-Style plates and clamps have become so commonplace, that even the rotating lens-collar on my Tamron 150-600mm G2 has an arca plate built into the mount so it eradicates the need to add an additional plate to mount on a gimbal type or ball headed tripod (or monopod!!). I say go "ARCA"..It's here NOW and in the future!!

I have a variety of Manfrotto tripod heads with their proprietary quick release clamp. I like the heads but not their quick release system. I'm always having to rotate the lever around more to make sure it's securely clamped. I'm slowly switching to heads with Arca-Swiss clamps. My first one is the Acratech Nomad.

I also have used both. I wish I had started with the Arca-Swiss clamps. Just so pleasant to use.

You mean a Black Widow like this?... I've got lots of them around here. Matter of fact, I raised some...They kill and eat other insects as well so they are beneficial. Just don't get bit...
