This was done in Photo Gallery (free software) by just making some adjustments to the shadows and highlights sliders.
There just isn't enough to work with to make major changes. This is a little better but not great.

Aloha Again Cameranut,

The visual help. I will checkout this software. Mahalo for all!

My first thought is composition. Though somewhat staid, using thirds is alsways a good fall back, especially for starters. The next thing is a bit of work in processing. In this case, I simply did a WB for this particular image. They say that a picture is worth 1000 words. So, I took the liberty to illustrate what I meant, except for composition. The image was just too small to start chopping bits from it.

Aloha Rmalraz,

I think I got what you are saying. I do understand part of it. I am still learning the technical language. My apologizes. Mahalo!

Welcome to the forum. You need to ask yourself, "What am I trying to say with this image"
I think your answer would be the critter. If that is the case you need to do some cropping to give the image meaning.

Aloha PixelStan77,

That is helpful to think like that. Mahalo for your input!

The lighting is very unkind. I have seldom ever been able to get a decent shot with mixed lighting.
You might want to click the box beside "store original" so we can see the downloadable version and have more info on your settings, etc.
You can lighten shadows and darken highlights with almost any type of software. Send the downloadable version and I can show you an example of some minor adjustments.

Aloha Cameranut,

Mahalo for your feedback and help! I deleted the orginal. I learn my mistake now. Again, Mahalo!

Be well,

Aloha,

I took this with a NikonD3400. I choose that one primarly based on a professional suggestion for people who hands shakes. This professional also has the same problem. When I went to the store, this camera was nice on the hands.

I do not let anything define me. I am still learning how to hold. I use RAW for everything. I use the S or A exposure modes for I am bird watching(or animals, or USA flag, or clouds) I edit this picture in the camera settings. I just use the trim option. I prefer not to use Photoshop if possible. What do you think, please? Any tips are appreciated.

Aloha,

I just found this newsletter. I purchased my first digital camera around the second week of August of 2018. It is a NikonD3400. All of my previous cameras are film.

I look forwarding to learning!

Mahalo,
