Eclectic set. Birds from various geographic locations. I recognize all of them except the Tern. Any idea what it is and where the photo was shot?

Its a Caspian Tern shot at the inland lake at Maumee Bay State Park

Beautiful work - and some great action shots

Here some Hummingbirds shot high ISO and SS between 1/2000 and 1/8000 and ISO's of 2000 thru 8000.

Nice shit of AJs car! Where are the sprint shots taken? My grandfather and I traveled Ohio and Indiana for the sprint races and was always at the first day of time trials and the race at Indy. Nice shots especially with film. Something I know ZERO about.

Sprints were at Winchester and Eldora, the boat was down in St. Petersburg, Florida. These are all film scans with either an Epson Perfection V700 Photo or a Super Nikon Coolscan 5000.

The USGA has done extensive studies of this subject. That organization has the equipment to replicate and photograph "Iron Byron" in all facets of the golf swing. You've "googled" the subject here, try the trusted reference for your subject. If golf is your subject the USGA is your reference. For other high-speed photography try NASA, and Indycar. Both organizations live in the fast lane and know how to record their action. Both organizations are dedicated to protecting their participants' lives and need to know the environments in which they operate. Have fun, high speed is just that!

Here are some images shot at 1/1000. Black and white was tri-x color was 400ASA. I shot USAC sprints, midgets, dirt champ and Indy cars through out the 1970's and 1980's. Road racing was too easy for me since they don't go that fast. Only the Indy car wreck was shot at 1/2000 @ F:8 on tri-x. For really fast photography try shooting a milk drop with electronic flash. A golfer could be shot with a multiple strobes and multiple imaged in a darkened room.

That's a typo error. I've never been able to do masking. I've tryed it and it just will not work. I've tried putting marching ants around the subject bird but Topaz just ignores it.

My computer will not do masking. I've done PS since since PS 2 and have figured out masking.

V2 is in Topaz Sharpen AI and NOT in Topaz Denoise AI. Its what I call small increase(?). The lower you go in Topaz Sharpen AI the stronger its get. You will see artifacts in the background. At least that's what I've found.

I shoot birds. So when I lock in my correct exposure on a bird the background goes into under exposure. Topaz Denoise AI will remove the noise in the background and sharpen the image. When I shot the Hawk which is in this thread I had a shutter speed of 1/640 which is too slow for the hawk however when I applied Sharpen AI it sharpened right up. I use Topaz Denoise as part of my workflow and only use Sharpen AI on those missed focus flight shots.

I've seen questions across several different photography forums concerning the use of Topaz Denoise AI and Sharpen AI. I use Sharpen AI on birds in flight shots because I've used a shutter speed that's too slow for the action. On the attached photos of the Hawk my shutter speed was 1/640 which was much too slow. The second hawk photo is after I used Sharpen AI with a setting of V2. I was really surprised at the difference between the 2 images. The same thing happened with the Northern Cardinal. I would have deleted both images as being too much out of focus but if they aren't OOF too much they can be saved.

Great shots. I believe I visited 17 years ago. Two things I recall: 1. Whatever lens you brought, you needed more lens; & 2. It was bone chilling cold when the eagles concentrated below the locks/dams.

I have a Red Head snow suit which is wind and water proof, a pair of Mickey Mouse boots and the Heat Company heat gloves. They have a heat pocket in the liner glove and one the the leather zippered mitten. I can be out in the freezing cold and be as warm as a bug in a rug. The cold does not effect the camera or lens but I had a problem of my breath fogging the eyepiece.

I use Auto ISO and the shutter speed was 1/3200 at F:8. I used a D3s with my 600mmF:4g VR. I also had 21 focus points up. So I would put the circle of focus points on the image (sometimes up to a 100 yards out). In post I crop to a 4x6 in PS6 and I use Topaz AI Denoise & sharpening on each image.
