Thanks very much, Bill. Looks like we will not be rooting for the same team next round (I have been living in WA State since 2002)

Always an exciting matchup. Go. Pack. Go!

The problem is usually not your ISP. The servers at the source can get overloaded when too many users are connected. We have 300 mps service and still sometimes have issues during high traffic times. By the way, it was a good game. Being a Packers fan, I hated seeing the Vikings win except that it could give the Pack an opportunity to beat them for the third time this year.

I agree and was wondering if that could be part of the issue. It was stated that the OP used AF-A, meaning the camera was free to use AF-S or AF-C, and either mode, release priority or focus priority. What would happen if the camera chose AF-S?

I don't think it matters as the focus mechanism is inoperative no matter what mode is selected. The advantage for me with bbf/AF-C is that I have constant tracking (AF-C) if I hold the button and AF-S if I focus and release the button.

How would BBF react if the camera chose to be in af-s? Could that explain the OP's inconsistent results?

AF-C is the correct mode to use in BBF. The focus mechanism will not operate unless the button is depressed.

The camera was in AF-A mode. It decides whether it's going to be in continuous or stationary autofocus. I would set it to AF-S mode for this shot.

Also check menu options a1: AF-C Priority Selection and a2: AF-S Priority Selection. I set those to Focus in my cameras.

With bbf, Autofocus C is the most useful option. The camera will only focus when the finger is on the button. Stationary subject- focus, release, recompose (in necessary), shoot. Moving subject- obtain focus, hold the button, follow the subject, shoot.

I had a similar issue. I found that I was focusing then recomposing before releasing the button. The camera was refocusing. Gotta let go of the button before moving the focus point.

I live 1/2 mile out of Chattanooga, been to the aquarium many times. You are right for it's size and location it is a good place to go. Butt Shedd is better.

The great thing about Chattanooga is their crowned management.

I had the same issues using LR6.14. I installed an under $200 dollars GPU. There was a very significant improvement. LR still seems to slow down after a long session, but restarting the machine brings it back up to speed. Following all of the suggestions for file locations, etc. is also important.

I have never attempted photos in an aquarium. Been a long time since I visited one.
Going in a couple of weeks on a group tour to the Atlanta Aquarium.
I appreciate any suggestions on lenses and techniques. I will be using a Canon 80D, and I have a variety of lenses including some primes.

First comment. The Chattanooga Aquarium the best I've ever been in. I got some outstanding shots there. My favorites were the ones with other visitors and the under the sea windows where you are beneath the tank. I used a D750 and 24-120 lense. A higher ISO is required for sure. The "glass" you will be shooting through for sea life shots is VERY thick wherever you go.

Setting your camera to black and white produces a black and white jpg image. At least that is the case with Nikon. Setting the camera to capture a RAW image provides a lot more data from which to work.

Set the camera (picture control-Nikon) to black and white but the Image Quality to RAW. You still capture ALL of the image data including color. The image review on the camera will show a monochrome image.

Best you shoot raw so you have all of the data

Thanks. Family came from Alcace in France which is on the German border. They came here in the late 1800's. The guy on the left has a familial resemblance. It's a family mystery which will never be resolved.

This is a photo found among the belongings of a grand aunt. She was born in 1900 so would have been a teenager during the war. Her brother, my grandfather, served in France during the war. The "x" above the sailor was on the photo already. There is an interesting family story here. We'll never hear it though. That generation is long gone as the next nearly is. My generation is becoming the "oldies".
