Steamtown USA. A great series of photographs. A National Park Congress won't fund.

Thank you Max. I didn't know that Congress won't fund. Nevertheless Steamtown is first class all the way. Tom

I love these. One of my "off-the-wall" dreams is to have a caboose, like you photographed, and convert it into a darkroom. The outside would stay the same but inside, all the equipment I'd need. It'd be quite a bit different than my current darkroom.
--Bob

Hi Bob that would be a neat place for a dark room.My first dark room when I started my business in offset printing was a coal bin in the house I was living in.I think I like your "dream" better than what my reality was. Thanks so much for commenting! Tom

Pages out of a history book! Thanx for bringing this to us. Very good details of "dinosaurs" of the past. Museum pieces all, thank you.

Your correct David, they are museum pieces and worth the trip to "Steamtown" in Scranton, Pa. Tons of history all around this area and Steamtown is a national park. No admission. Tom

What a great set! Where were these taken? I can only imagine the cost of restoring even one locomotive.
Who is paying for these restorations?

Hi Mr.Spock, these are from "Steamtown" Scranton Pa.Its a national Park.Great place. Restored roundhouse, well done museum, alot of restored trains and trains waiting to be worked on. And its free! Ask the park rangers anything and they'll have an answer for you. Restoration comes from the budget and donations.I've been there many times. Tom

Ha Ha! Lots of reflection from his helmet, or maybe he's kind of blushing in orange, or most likely it came from me. In any event every time he came down he never fell. Thanks Abo. Tom
