Somehow, this little guy seems to be looking for a fight.

It appears to be a little over color saturated, but hey, it's a beautiful butterfly. You need to put that one on your wall!

I might have added too much contrast which can produce the same effect.

Thanks, Jeff. I left Detroit in 1952, to enlist in the Air Force and never returned.

One of the most colorful to visit our area in Texas. I can't help but wonder what the world would look like through those eyes. Sony A65 with Minolta 80-200mm xi lens set to max magnification.

Another view of the same Dragonfly. Taken today with a $20.00 Minolta 80-200mm xi. Not quite as good as the Sony 18-135mm SAM that I used for the original, as it shows a bit of C.A.,but it's a real bargain from Ebay.

I consider dragonflies to be the greatest flying machines in the world. I really enjoy watching the fantastic maneuvers they are capable of.

These two guys with 0.5 inch bodies can only be appreciated by severe image cropping. A Grey Hairstreak and a Spreadwing Skipper are two examples. I used my Sony 18-135mm for these shots.

A major advantage of a mirrorless camera is the ability to use vintage lenses of any brand that can be adapted to mount them.

with the Minolta A lenses, they provide all the auto functions that the Sony alpha lenses have with no adapter needed.

Views showing upper and lower sides of wings. Taken with a Minolta 80-200mm xi lens. This lens can be had on Ebay for around 20 to 25 dollars. It is surprisingly sharp and as light as most 50mm lenses. If you are a Sony Alpha shooter it is a mega bargain.

I couldn't decide which was the best, so I submitted both.

Love the Butterflies... never have paid much attention to Bokeh. How does a person pronounce that, anyhow? With a sharp KEH, like a cat hacking up a hairball?

I think that most would pronounce it bow-kah with the accent on the first syllable. I like to pronounce it bowkay with the accent on the second syllable. I'm from Texas so that might be the problem.
