Not to veer off the OP's subject that I cannot logically address, but to counter some of the erroneous comments made here, I use four Canon L lens with Sony a6500 body and Sigma MC-11 adapter with no perceptible loss of functionality. I also have four Sony lens and they function very little or no better than my Canon lens on my Sony a6500. I've talked with others who have used both Metabones and Sigma Canon to Sony adapters and have observed that Metabones does not work as well as the Sigma. Prior to the release of the Sigma mc-11 I tried several other adapters and have not had the kind of experience with any adapter like I have the Sigma mc-11.

As a mere hobbyist I cannot justify a big "keeping up" expenditure each year to upgrade so I bought the Sony a6500 because it gave me features Canon didn't offer at the time plus the ability to use my Canon lens on it, even if I had to manually focus, features like in-body-image-stabilization for non-IS lens like my favorite wildlife lens, the ultra-lightweight Canon 400mm f/5.6L which lost autofocus with usage of the 1.4x teleconverter on my Canon FF body at that time. If my poor math serves me right, the a6500 effectively gives the 400mm lens image stabilization, an effective a f/1.4 to f/2.8 lens that will still autofocus on the a6500 with a Canon 1.4x teleconverter which, when combined with the 1.5x crop factor and Sony's 2x Clear Image Zoom gives my sharp 400mm lens a 1680mm field of view that autofocuses that I can handhold at a relative low shutter speed in a pinch with one stop loss of light for the teleconverter. Not only did I not lose any functionality, I gained a lot more and one of them is faster focus than with the Canon body even using Canon lens. Your mileage may vary so feel free to reveal it but please restrict your comments to what you know.

Those of you who are spreading misinformation about things you have no knowledge about would be doing everyone a big favor if you'd stick to commenting only when you do know what you're talking about. You might be surprised the damage you do, wasting other people's time and maybe even money, and how fast you lose credibility in uhh guessing or making false comments. If you're lonely, feel like you have to talk, or just need attention, please go join Match.com or something.

Recently added Sony a7mk3 to my gear with a Tamron 28 -75 E mount lens, but could not justify 2500 for another 100_400 when I have this beautiful Canon 100_400LII. Bought a Sigma MK 11 adapter and have been happy with its preformance tho not perfect, it does the job and allows me to use the lens on my Canon and my Sony even with the 1.4 extender. Yes when I buy new lenses they will be E mounts but it's nice to be able to use the same lens on both cameras for the time being

First time I would seriously think of taking just the SX60, and enjoy the walk !
If image quality is a really big deal the (SX60 can be a little soft especially when zoomed longer) I'd opt for the 70 - 300 .
I do lots of hikes with the dog on local pathways, my normal walk around lens on my 7Dmk2 is the Tamron 18-400 takes a descent pic but can be a little soft after 300 or in low light. If I'm out for birds and animals I'll usually go with the 100-400 but that's a heavy pig to tote around

If you go the Sony route instead of the kit go with a Tamron 28-75 2.8

I wouldsay the 70 to 200 , the event held here is on a ice covered pond, I can get on theback side of the pond (the plungers are faceing me when they jump ) but walking around the crowd I would go with the 24 70 .
Get there early and scope out the site for best spot to stand.
Also ours has a hot tub for thge jumpers after they jump, the bodies are steaming when they get out ,could be a cool pic opportunity

I am just wondering when useing a lens with image stabilisation on a mirrorless camera with IBIS, should I leave both stabilizers on (I have been turning of the IS on the lens) or turn one off ?
