I already have 2 smaller external backup drives in addition to the C drive. The new external drive will be for future photos once the current C drive is full. Thanks!
Don't think I have an extra bay for an internal. The "portable" ones are a bit less expensive. Thanks!
Hello- is there any benefit one way or the other, in using an AC-powered external hard drive vs a portable usb-plug in drive? To be used at home for storage of new photo files since my C drive is almost full. Thanks!
Cool setup! Thanks for ideas- I am now just waiting for the Powermate to get delivered so I can put it all together.
Nice shot of Orion! I have Ioptron CEM 25P; how do you like the GEM28??
Thanks Al- I think the rear sct threads are 2 inches. I ordered a new separate celestron 1.25 inch visual back, a Powermate 2.5x 1.25 inch, and a Powermate t-ring adapter that all supposedly will hook up together to my dslr. I don't think your 2 inch Barlow will fit my setup, thank you for your kind offer!
Hi all- wanting to do planetary photos with Celestron C6 sct. I have Nikon D5300 with the Celestron T ring and adapter to screw into the rear threads of the SCT. I have read that it would be better to include a Barlow lens in this image line to enlarge the image of a planet, ie Jupiter. But I have not been able to figure out how to add a Barlow in. What parts or adapters do you all use for this kind of project? It would be cool if there was a Barlow with the 2 inch threaded ring on it to screw into the back of the scope, and some type of T ring or adapter already installed to attach directly to the camera. Or would I need some other additional piece? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
Thanks to everyone, all good ideas and advice.
Thank you Gene- this addresses my problem very clearly. Now to go turn off touch screen.. too bad it can't be programmed to keep the focus point stationary.
Thanks, this answers a lot of questions!
I think mine just hits the monitor screen as I am using the viewfinder and makes the point move around.
Thanks for this reply info! Some folks have been concerned that SSDs while faster tend not to last as long as standard HDs, don't know what the longevity difference might be? Currently my OS and programs are on a 256g ssd, photos and data go on the other normal hd. Does it take a lot of "courage" to set this up? How brave must I be?
It seems I have a "nose" for problems. It may have a focus lock but I haven't found it yet. Hope to get some answers for the hogs! Thanks-
Don't use LR but my main HD is filling up fast with photos. I have I5 with 16g ram, Win 10. Would it be useful to simply add a large external HD for new photos? If so, how would I "tell" computer to automatically put the new photos onto the new external hd? I always transfer photos from the SD card of the camera through a card reader into the computer. Or would it be better just to add on a larger internal hd for these new photos, assuming the computer can handle an additional drive? Thanks!
