Nice set to demonstrate the impact of white balance. Do you shoot raw or jpeg?

Usually I shoot raw with AWB and just change in LR. If I remember, I use cloudy for landscapes but I can always modify later.

I was there last year. The rookery has decreased in size because of the cormorant excrement (more acidic) and impacting the trees and shrubs. At least that is what I am told....

Nice shots

I went there this past year. You really can bring too big a lens when you are in the bird blinds! It was great. I want to go back with a shorter lens to get the closer birds. You'll get some great photos as you know.

Nice capture! Good background too. If so inclined and have the time, you could clone out the stick behind the female's head. Just a suggestion.

We were there over Halloween. That was the night 2 town people were attacked by a large male. Unfortunately a sow was killed protecting her cub before they realized they got the wrong bear...eventually found the responsible male. It was very sobering point of the trip and really gave us an education on what life can be like living with these bears.

Damn. I read about the mauling after the trip (googling to see about polar bear fatalities) but didn't read about misidentifying the wrong bear. Wow. Pretty frightening. Thanks for sharing.

We were in Churchill a couple of years ago...an experience never to be forgotten. We saw all large males. The females and cubs were hanging back since they did not want to be food for the males...you were so fortunate to see a cub. Thank you for sharing your photos...brought back wonderful memories.

Oh, good point. I didn't think about the mother and Cubs hanging back. That makes sense as males make the mother and Cubs nervous.

We also heard the pop guns going off in the town a few times as bears were near. I wasn't sure what it was the first time until a store owner told us to come inside...
