No, not the collections, the folders.

within LR or in C:?
Photos are in C: drive. It appears the photos are there but the catalog is damaged by the unusual shutdown.

Are there any images in the folders?

none. The collection label on the left also shows no photos (gray and no photo number) I tried to import again, and all photos grayed out. but I got the image if I clicked on a single picture, with the message that this photo is already in the collection.

I was processing a batch of photos when I experienced the "blue screen of death". The collection I was working on still shows in the collection list, but with no photos. If I try to import the photos again, they are grayed out. Where are they and how do I see them again?
If I click a single picture in the import mode, it shows in loope and says the picture is already in the catalog, but the collection shows empty.

I was wondering, if Ebola could be spread by mosquitoes, like malaria, to which ebola is related.
Could be a possible reason why the doctors and care givers are catching it.?

Ebola is not related to malaria. Malaria is caused by Plasmodium ssp. is a protist. Ebola is a v***s. Totally different groups.

I was wondering if that is where ( incoming immigrants from the Southern Border) the v***s was coming from, they also brought other diseases with them such as T.B.

For President Obama not to deport them within 72 hours of arrival, (as they do if they were Mexican children), he should be sued and relieved of duty for putting U.S. citizens in harms way.
I said it once, he just cares about himself and more v**es for the Democratic party, no matter what the cost, even at endangering the U.S. citizens' health and well being.

Resistant TB has been here for 20 years. That is not on this administration. The rules governing deportation that the administration is following were put in place by the last administration. If Congress has a problem with that, they should address the whole problem & change it. Even the GOP won't tackle that issue before an e******n.

This link is to a new Federal law being debated now. The Forest Service says it is codifying existing policy. On further research, including SNOPES, it appears the restriction is for commercial photo shoots intended to make money that would also restrict public use of the land during the shoot. Most cities have been doing this for years. A movie company cannot close a street in NYC for their own profit without a permit.
This new law does not restrict personal photography or news events. Although it is being hyped that way.

When I was in high school, I attended the music camp for several summers at the University of Redlands in CA and had to lug around a baritone sax. After the first summer, that got real old. My dad made a skate board wide enough for the case and strapped it on that. Made getting it places a whole lot easier!

This one time, at band camp.........

I use a Canon 8800F and have no problems. About 1 minute per slide, including change over time. Will scan 4 at a time.

Time Square

standing in front of a taxi is not always a good idea. Glad you lived to send the photo.
One of the iconic NYC shots is sunset in the concrete canyon. Sometimes, the sunset lines up perfectly with the vanishing point at the end of the street between skyscrapers. Just a thought.

I agree, but I am far more interested in seeing the security of the IRS and NSA. The first because we know there are tax cheats that cost us, especially politicians who expect favors, and the second because I want to know if they have information on me. I would need to get past their security wall to know for sure, They might lie in a FIA request.

We seriously need a sarcasm font. If I had the security codes for any of these agencies, how long before the Muslims & Russians also have it, totally defeating our military? If the codes for healthcare get out, anticipate your mailbox flooded with ads for every possible medication for any illness you have ever had or been tested for. Just sign a release for your personal history now.

Thanks to everyone for the comments. Tough decision but sounds like there are a lot of good choices. Will go to local camera store to handle and get an idea about ease of use.
Thanks again - a great forum.

I would suggest you take your own SD card. see if they will allow you to take pictures in the store. Decide what kind of pictures you want to take and set up similar shots in the store. Take exactly the same shots with each camera, then compare on the computer at home. Take a pad & marker so you can take a photo of a sign to remind you when you change models. If you forget, take a closeup of the shelf sign.

I recommend the SX50. Small enough not to become a burden, and excellent image quality. You already know about its great zoom range. One must add that, unlike large zoom lenses that require a tripod, the physical shortness of the SX50 lens, combined with an excellent image stabilizer, makes it possible to get good hand-held pictures at full zoom.

I have gotten a few good photos at full zoom on the sx50, the minute of angle requires a speed of 1/500 or faster. It is hard to even find a small subject and keep it in the frame.
