My current Samsung, DJI and Sony cameras will charge or run on USB power. USB "power bank" batteries work well for when the shoot is long or the extra battery time is needed for timelapse shooting. Apparently, "power delivery" cables might be needed.

Do you mean the camera is connected to an external power source - like a portable battery? If so, that's a good feature. Video cameras can often do that. If I record a two-hour play, the standard battery may or may not last long enough, so connecting an external powerpack is ideal.

Sadly, Roger Corman, king of B rated Sci Fi movies, died today at 98.

Well, he left a treasury of a certain type of film behind. All you have to see is "Roger Corman," and you know what the film is like.

Glue traps should be banned - they're horribly inhumane! I used one once and never again - I removed the struggling mouse from the glue and spent almost an hour washing the residue off it before releasing it back into the woods.

Yes! I can't imagine how they are allowed. Did someone have to approve that, or can anything be used as a trap? I don't even like the idea of killing mice, but the trap is instantaneous. On the other hand, I don't want mice running around my house. If I catch them live and bring them outside, they'll come right back in. I could drive them miles away and hope they don't find their way back, but that involves driving an expensive car that's burning expensive fuel.

Silly!!! You want more money just raise the price. That is why I like it in Japan. The food is expensive there but no tip. If you tip them they consider it as an insult.

Many countries do not make their people rely on tips. Businesses in this country are allowed to pay well below minimum wage and make the customers pay more through tips. When I look at the price on the menu, I add 20%. I had a job on a tourist ship in New England for a couple of summers. I don't remember the hourly wage, but state law did not require them to pay overtime. No matter how many hours we worked, we got the standard rate of pay. Laws tend to favor businesses over workers.

I know for a fact that the restaurant business is very profitable. I know a man who owns a diner - just a basic diner, and he is very wealthy. He began as a partner and then bought out the other owner. A typical hourly wage for a waiter in the U. S. is $10, $20,800 annually before taxes.

Says right there...tipping is not expected.

Yes, it does, and I'm sure the waiters would like to remove that line. I can't imagine that 18% system being good for anyone but management.

Similar to how far can you drive when the gage is on "E" empty, yet it starts and drives. Those that push the edges find that out as they call AAA.

When my Fit says I can drive Zero miles on the gas remaining, I know I can drive at least another fifty miles. On a Sunday morning in NJ, I had to park at a gas station and wait for it to open. From what I hear, running the tank dry if you have fuel injection is a bad idea. It's like running an ink tank printer dry - not good!

Jerry, do you know is there a link available from some reliable reference that substantiates this or is it currently just hearsay?

Well, I searched for Nikon Z and languages, and I found nothing appropriate. As a last resort, I got out of my chair and checked both the Z6 and the Z8. Both have Portuguese available. Brazil is a large country with a large population.

If only one language becomes the standard, it could be much more difficult to buy a camera. "Yes, we have plenty of those cameras, but not one in the language you requested."

No they wouldn't go for the subscription model for the lanquages but they may go for the subscription just to use the camera and firmware update.

In the early days of the Garmin GPS, they charged $75 for each map update. A really bad idea.

I've mentioned this before, and I'm mentioning it again. I tend to misplace things, not making a mental note of where I left them, so I can't find them later. A couple of years ago, I bought a Tascam audio recorder. I wanted to use it a few weeks ago, but I couldn't find it. What did I do? Naturally, I bought another one. I got that setup and put it carefully away. Guess what happened next? Right. I can't find it. 🤣

I haven't done a thorough search - ripping up the carpet, checking the dog's poo, looking in the ashes from the wood stove - so I haven't given up hope. It's been only a week, so I'll look everywhere. Of course, I "looked everywhere" for the first one I bought. However this turns out, I'm not buying another one. I bet I'll trip over it while walking to the bathroom at 3:00 AM someday.

Aside from being father of the Wright brothers, what special qualifications did this guy have in science and technology, especially predicting its future? Even if the Wright brothers hadn't invented powered flight, someone else would have done so pretty soon anyway. The Wright brothers' primacy in flight is disputed in parts of Europe, but they are the undisputed human inventors of the banked turn in a flying machine. Birds had been making such turns for years and other humans had been making wide turns with wings level.

Even if the Wright brothers had not demonstrated powered flight in 1903, it wouldn't be long before the first vacuum diode would be invented in 1904 and the vacuum triode in 1906. These were necessary steps in bringing in the electronics industry and commercial broadcasting.

You don't need qualifications to make bold statements. All you need is gullible people who believe them.

I remember reading an article in a magazine in the 1970s about "durables." The idea was that industry is supported by the sale of new, durable products. They are new, in big demand, and they're durable. At the time, they had no idea what the next, big, durable, in-demand product would be. Would anyone like to list some new developments in products since the 1970s? 😂

You can enter your ideas on your person, home computer, or you can even use the multi-purpose cell phone on your pocket.

Interesting. I guess they don't want the mirror dropping while you're wiping the sensor.

Charging 5% more if you pay by credit card isn't enough. The statement below is on the bottom of the menu at the GioBatta restaurant in Red Hook, NY. There is a lengthy discussion on nextdoor.com about this. The wording is vague enough that it could mean lots of things. Maybe it means that they are charging you more than the price on the menu so they can afford to pay their employees a higher hourly rate. Maybe that 18% is distributed among their employees. "Tipping is not necessary..." Really?! Waiters don't want a tip? Are they being paid $15/hr?

If you want to tip your waiter 20%, you can mentally add about 40% to the prices on the menu. That 18% will be "distributed among" employees - your tip will go equally to your good waiter and the guy who got your order wrong, as well as the cook and any others who work there. Does that include the owner? He works there. I wonder if they add another 5% for using a credit card.

This is the Red Hook a hundred miles north of NYC, not the neighborhood in Brooklyn.
